In a major development, 130 Maoists including top leaders surrendered before Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy along with their weapons.

The surrendered Maoists included three State committee members, one regional committee member, 10 divisional committee members, 46 members of the area committee and 70 other members. They also handed over 124 weapons to the police including LMG and AK-47 rifles

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the State government would quash pending cases on the surrendered Maoists within the available legal framework. If required, it would also form a committee to examine the modalities, he added.

Appreciating the State police for giving confidence to the Maoists to surrender, Revanth Reddy said all issues could be sorted through dialogue in a Gandhian way. He called upon other top leaders including Ganapathi, who are still in hiding to also surrender.
