3 Best Movies To Watch on Netflix This Weekend

Scream 7 slashed its way to almost $100 million upon opening last weekend, but it will face strong competition over the next three days. Pixar is back with another enticing original tale in Hoppers, a movie described by CCO Pete Docter as being “Avatar meets Mission: Impossible meets Planet Earth.” Horror fans are treated to Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s new vision of the classic Bride of Frankenstein in The Bride!, and the Peaky Blinders go feature-length, albeit in limited locations. Not only that, but plenty of new and classic shows are also calling your name on streaming this weekend. To help you discover the best from the latter, here’s a list of three movies you should stream this weekend on Netflix.

1

‘The Bling Ring’ (2013)

Rotten Tomatoes: 59% | IMDb: 5.6/10

As we continue to receive more updates on the upcoming Harry Potter series, why not check out a forgotten movie featuring one of the original trio? Lost in Translation director Sofia Coppola‘s The Bling Ring follows a group of teenagers — Marc Hall (Israel Broussard), Rebecca Ahn (Katie Chang), Nicki Moore (Emma Watson), Sam Moore (Taissa Farmiga), and Chloe Tainer (Claire Julien) — who use the internet to track celebrities, invade their homes, and try on their clothes.

A movie that feels perfectly of its time, bathed in the TMZ age of celebrity obsession, The Bling Ring might not be the best in Coppola’s career, but, after 13 years, it deserves another look. Loosely based on a true story, this crime caper is both bold and ambitious, making big swings that, although they don’t always land, are sure to keep you hooked.

2

‘The Unknown Country’ (2022)

Rotten Tomatoes: 92% | IMDb: 6.3/10

Fall in love with a critical darling this weekend with a viewing of writer-director Morrisa Maltz’s feature debut, The Unknown Country. Starring Lily Gladstone of Killers of the Flower Moon fame, the film follows a grieving young woman as she embarks on a lonely trip across gorgeous backdrops towards the border between Texas and Mexico.

“In the long cinematic history of American road movies, The Unknown Country carves out an indelible legacy of its own all the way to its final series of shattering shots,” wrote Chase Hutchinson in Collider’s review of the movie, promising an unforgettable, sweeping adventure that you can’t afford to miss. Sporting a typically excellent Gladstone performance, The Unknown Country should be on your radar.

3

‘War Machine’ (2026)

IMDb: 7.0/10

The most exciting new arrival on Netflix this weekend puts Reacher star Alan Ritchson back in the thick of kick-ass chaos. A sci-fi action thriller directed, co-produced, and co-written by Patrick Hughes, War Machine follows an elite team of US Army Rangers as they are forced to fight for survival against a terrifying alien threat.

Hard-hitting and packed with action, War Machine is the perfect roller-coaster getaway this weekend. Led by Ritchson, the eye-catching ensemble also includes Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Keiynan Lonsdale, Jarryd Goundrey, and Daniel Webber in key roles. Sure to find its way to the top of the streaming charts, don’t miss out on War Machine.
