Last weekend, some of the best new shows to binge on Netflix included The Man in the High Castle, a Prime Video original dystopian sci-fi series that was just added, as well as new series such as the 6-part crime mystery thriller That Night and the 4-part docuseries Dynasty: The Murdochs. While these are still great binge-worthy options, these three shows are the cutting edge to binge on Netflix this week.
Digman!
Co-created by and starring Andy Samberg, the Comedy Central animated series Digman! season 1 makes its Netflix debut this week. Although it received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, resulting in a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 57%, it’s one of the few new Netflix series that is worth checking out, especially if you’re a fan of Samberg’s offbeat comedic style.
Samberg created Digman! with Neil Campbell, best known for his work on Comedy Bang Bang! and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. One of the biggest draws for Digman! is that Tim Robinson is one of its main voice actors, which is a major plus considering his meteoric rise from titles like the HBO series The Chair Company and the 2024 A24 movie Friendship. Despite its mixed reviews, Digman! is worth checking out for all comedy fans once it hits Netflix on Tuesday, March 17.
Beauty In Black
One of the few new releases this week on Netflix is Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black season 2, part 2. Full of drama and twists, Beauty in Black has found a strong and dedicated audience, as evidenced by its 75% Rotten Tomatoes audience score. The series is also loaded with episodes, including a whopping 15 episodes in season 1, so it’s a good investment for those looking for a lengthier binge-watch this week.
Beauty in Black follows a stripper who finds a new lease on life when she encounters a wealthy family, only to realize how dysfunctional the family is soon after they cross paths. The family is well-known for owning a popular cosmetics brand, but secretly operates a trafficking scheme, which comes with its own set of dangers. Featuring standout perfomances by Taylor Polidore Williams and Crystle Stewart, Beauty in Black should be one of the most-watched Netflix series released this week.
The Ricky Gervais Show
Comedy fans should check out all three seasons of The Ricky Gervais Show, which releases on Netflix this Wednesday. Originally aired as a radio show hosted by comedic legend Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Karl Pilkington, The Ricky Gervais Show was made into an animated series on HBO in 2010 and consists of 39 episodes across three seasons.
The Ricky Gervais Show was nominated for 2 Emmys in 2010, including Outstanding Animated Program. It won an Emmy for Outstanding Individual in Animation for the episode “Charity”. The series also earned an impressive 93% Rotten Tomatoes audience score, which makes it one of the most fan-approved comedy series streaming now on Netflix. Fans of Ricky Gervais already know what to expect from The Ricky Gervais Show. If you haven’t seen the series yet, add it to the top of your watchlist this week on Netflix.
