Teen Wolf has quickly climbed the streaming service’s charts, earning a global resurgence nine years after the original series ended. Inspired by the 1985 movie of the same name, every season of Teen Wolf follows high school student and werewolf Scott McCall as he and his friends face off against supernatural threats in Beacon Hills, California.
Now, FlixPatrol confirms that Teen Wolf has become a major streaming success on Netflix, following its international release on the platform. According to data from March 6, 2026, the series is Number 8 on the streaming service worldwide. This includes becoming Number 2 in Brazil and Number 3 in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, and Martinique.
Although Teen Wolf didn’t break into the United States’ Top 10 as of writing, the show is available to stream on Netflix in the US. The series earned a number of accolades throughout its six-season run, including multiple Saturn Awards for Best Youth-Oriented Series on Television. It also won Best Ensemble at the Young Hollywood Awards in 2013.
The series is known for its more supernatural approach to its core ideas than the original movie was. This includes the involvement of other supernatural beings aside from werewolves, including a banshee, kitsune, and werecoyote. As the show continued, every season introduced more elements to its lore, allowing for further exploration of the series’ main elements via new lenses.
It helps the show was a critical hit to start, earning positive reviews from critics across every season. According to Rotten Tomatoes, reviews for Teen Wolf average at 81% for critics, as well as 86% for audiences. Even as the series began to complicate itself in the later seasons, it still retained the interest of a majority of its audience.
While the original show, which ended in 2017, is on Netflix, the series has a continuation that’s only available on Paramount+. In 2023, the streaming platform released Teen Wolf: The Movie, a sequel film that sees Scott return to Beacon Hills after years away in order to tackle a new threat to his hometown.
According to reviews for Teen Wolf: The Movie, the film isn’t as beloved as the original series. According to its score on Rotten Tomatoes, the sequel film holds a 33% score from critics. Audiences were somewhat more forgiving, affording it a 64%, but for the most part, the film didn’t perform as well as the original series.
This is reflected in just how globally popular the show has become following its debut on Netflix. From Teen Wolf‘s classic characters to the number of supernatural threats the team faces, the show has proven itself a strong installment among supernatural TV shows. It’s a strength that’s continued well beyond when it ended.
Given the series’ international success on Netflix, it remains to be seen if Teen Wolf will be bolstered by even bigger numbers as more tune in to watch it. Thus far, it appears the show has a strong foundation on the streaming service, which could continue to be reflected in its Top 10 placement moving forward.
