Per Variety, Lisa Vicari, who played Martha Nielsen in the acclaimed Netflix series, is joining forces with Dark creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar for a new HBO Max series. Though many details remain under wraps, the show will adapt Struwwelpeter a 19th century German children’s novel by Heinrich Hoffmann.
The series is expected to adapt 10 stories from the original book into a thriller show, with the child characters replaced with adults. The show, which doesn’t yet have an official title, will follow a federal investigator as she solves ritual murders inspired by Hoffmann’s tales. The show has been dubbed a “cruel reality” thriller that features elements of family drama while exploring the notions of punishment and forgiveness.
