Wario, Waluigi, Princess Daisy, Toadette, and the Koopalings remain absent – for now. Theoretically, any of these characters could pop up in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, potentially as cameos or surprise additions to the story. As for Princess Daisy specifically, there’s no evidence she’ll appear, but there are signs she’s on the table.
Princess Daisy’s Emblem Can Be Spotted In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
When Yoshi uses his tongue to swallow a Chomp Chomp in one of the TV spots for the upcoming film, a symbol can be spotted on a sign in the background and can be clearly identified as Princess Daisy’s yellow and teal flower emblem, which has associated with her character and her kingdom for decades.
Curiously, the Princess Daisy emblem has appeared once already, via a poster for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. But this is the first time it’s been shown within the story itself. It functions as one of several Easter eggs to classic Super Mario characters, but also one that provides a hint to the existence of Daisy and her kingdom, Sarasaland.
Given the apparent scope of its universe, which includes not only planets in the Super Mario Galaxy games but also the jungles of the Donkey Kong franchise, Sarasaland being a part of it wouldn’t necessarily be surprising. The bigger question pertains to when and if Princess Daisy will appear in the flesh.
When (& How) Princess Daisy Could Finally Appear
With The Super Mario Galaxy Movie already boasting a substantial roster of established characters, not to mention how close we are to the film’s release with no official mention of Daisy, her appearing in the movie in any significant capacity is unlikely. A cameo, perhaps in a post-credits sequence, certainly feels plausible, however.
With The Super Mario Galaxy Movie adapting elements of several major games and pulling a handful of new characters into the mix, a similar approach can be expected for a possible third installment in the franchise, and if that happens, Daisy will surely be a top candidate for a major role in the story, alongside Wario and maybe even Waluigi too.
The movies have done deep into the lore so far, but one of the games that it’s barely touched so far is Super Mario Land, which famously pit Mario and Luigi against an alien invader called Tatanga, who invaded the kingdom of Sarasaland. Mario and Luigi had to rescue their princess, Daisy, and defeat Tatanga.
A sequel to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie could look at exploring what happened in Super Mario Land to bring Daisy into its world, but the more likely scenario for her introduction is that it takes aspects of Super Mario Land and combines it with other games, not unlike what it’s doing with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
In addition to bringing Super Mario Galaxy to the big screen, the 2026 movie is evidently merging it with Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario Odyssey, and possibly Super Mario Bros. 2 as well. Rather than give Yoshi’s Island its own movie, for example, its finding room for a story where Yoshi has to protect Baby Mario and Baby Luigi.
A third Super Mario movie could do something similar, with Princess Daisy either visiting the Mushroom Kingdom or Sarasaland serving as a pitstop in Mario and Luigi’s journey. If that happens, Princess Daisy can tag along and join them in defeating whichever villain it has in store for them after The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
