Power supply under the proposed 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) is expected to begin from FY31.
The award follows a competitive bidding process in which Adani Power emerged as the lowest-tariff bidder, offering power at a combined tariff of ₹5.30 per kWh, the company said in a statement on Sunday.
Power supply under the proposed 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) is expected to begin from FY31. The MSEDCL project includes a pre-determined coal linkage, which the company said will ensure fuel security and enable cost-effective power supply.
The electricity will be supplied from one of the company’s upcoming ultra-supercritical thermal power projects. Ultra-supercritical technology is considered more efficient and less emission-intensive compared with conventional coal-based generation.
another win
The contract marks another win for Adani Power amid a renewed push for thermal capacity addition in India to support rising electricity demand. The company said it has secured five long-term power supply agreements during FY26 with a combined capacity of 10,400 MW.
With the latest agreement, Adani Power has tied up long-term PSAs for 13.3 GW of capacity out of its 23.8 GW pipeline currently under implementation. More than 95 per cent of the company’s existing operating capacity of about 18.15 GW is already secured under medium- to long-term contracts, while over 55 per cent of its upcoming capacity is backed by 25-year agreements, it said.
Adani Power is currently undertaking a major capacity expansion programme, aiming to increase its generation capacity from 18.15 GW to 41.87 GW by FY32 with investments of around ₹2 lakh crore.
