DC has officially dropped its June solicitations, and among them is a sneak peek at Sophie Campbell’s upcoming June 10 release, Supergirl #14. The synopsis for this issue lets us know that issue #14 will continue the storyline in which Kara and Lena Luthor face off against Black Flame, who continues to wreak havoc in Kandor while amassing power.
However, the most notable thing about this preview is the main cover by Sophie Campbell, which shows a brand-new Supergirl costume that completely ditches her blue, red, and yellow look.

While Kara has donned a multitude of costumes over her 67 years in comics, the suit she’s wearing on the cover of Supergirl #14 is by far one of her most radical, given that it completely throws out tradition by ditching the color scheme that has defined over six decades of her costumes and replacing it with the bold color scheme of white, light blue, and yellow.

After 67 years, Supergirl may be on the verge of a costume change as iconic as Superman’s Black Recovery Suit. Yes, it’s that big of a change.
The white makes up the majority of the bodysuit, with the ice blue making up her shorts, the outer layer of her cape, boots, and the “S” of the shield. The yellow serves as the costume’s accents and the inner layer of the cape. Given how major a change this is for the character, it will be interesting to see what fans think of the new design.
It’s not necessarily bad, but it’s such a stark change from tradition that it doesn’t quite feel like Supergirl. That’s why it will be interesting to find out whether this suit is just a temporary change or if it is going to be Kara’s new look moving forward. There is also the possibility that this is simply Supergirl’s version of Superman’s black recovery suit.
Why Is Supergirl Getting a New Costume?

The reason why we’re speculating that the white suit might be a recovery suit is due to what we know about Supergirl #12 and #13. To clarify, these two issues have yet to be released, but we do have access to their synopses and main covers from DC. They tease a storyline and situation in which Kara is critically injured, which we saw at the end of issue #11.
Based on the previews for Supergirl #12 and #13, Kara becomes part cyborg to compensate for a missing arm, leg, and eye. This cyborg form is featured on the cover for both issues. However, it is noticeably absent on the cover for issue #14, which shows Kara with all her limbs and eyes, though in a brand-new suit.
Coming back from so many missing body parts would definitely take a toll on someone, even a Kryptonian. Hence, it would make sense that this new white suit aids Supergirl in her recovery, just as the black recovery suit served Superman after his fatal battle against Doomsday.
