After Dark Is The Kind Of Expansion We Always Wanted

As much as it has its flaws, Hogwarts Legacy was undoubtedly an enormous success for Warner Bros. and players continue to explore the world Avalanche Studios created in their thousands.

Bringing an entirely original story in the Wizarding World to life, the developer did a really solid job of meeting expectations in terms of gameplay and realizing the iconic locations of Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the surrounding countryside.

That said, there were certainly areas for improvements and the game’s modding community has been on standby to address many of those, including one in particular that makes a real tangible difference to half of the time you spend playing the game.

Hogwarts Legacy: After Dark Is By Fans, For Fans

Over on Curse Forge, players can find the Hogwarts After Dark mod, Which promises to revolutionize the game world during the nighttime cycle, where it is notably lacking in anything particularly interesting from the game’s NPCs and characters.

Specifically, the mod adds a significant number of students to the common areas of Hogwarts at night, with the idea being that it gives the school a much more immersive and lived-in atmosphere.

Performance has also been optimized by the mod only using T3 and T4 NPCs (background characters) for this process. This uses considerably less resources than named NPCs roaming around, with the mod also only affecting Hogwarts itself, rather than the surrounding areas.

If you have played Hogwarts Legacy already then you’ll know that roaming around at night is easily one of the least interesting times you can have within the school itself, and this mod addressing that should go a long way to make the game a lot more fun to play.

This Is Exactly The Kind Of Hogwarts Legacy Update Fans Wanted

Though the game is beloved by many of those who played it, the list of requests for the confirmed sequel to the game is extremely long, and the kind of changes made in the mod above are exactly what the community has been requesting for some time.

Given that a solo developer managed to make it a reality, it should be a more than achievable goal for a major AAA developer to replicate something similar when they do finally get the sequel into players’ hands in 2027 or 2028.

We will have to wait and see exactly what Hogwarts Legacy 2 brings us, but with the game’s modding community on standby to fill in any gaps, we are always going to be in safe hands regardless.
