DC has just embarked on a brand-new era for its heroes and villains, and Wonder Woman is no exception. This shift has been made abundantly clear as DC launches the next generation of the Trinity, the iconic team traditionally comprised of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
DC NEXT LEVEL is the second act of the publisher’s ALL IN initiative, ushering in brand-new comic titles as well as fresh story arcs for ongoing series. Among these is Tom Taylor, Daniel Sampere, and Tomeu Morey’s Wonder Woman, which will kick off its long-teased Wonder War story arc with issue #31 on March 18, 2026.
This arc takes place roughly two decades in the future from DC’s current continuity. While the issue has yet to be released, a preview gives fans their first look at DC’s new Trinity, replacing Diana, Clark, and Bruce with their children.

Wonder War Preview Confirms the Next-Generation Trinity in Action

The Wonder War story arc will see the newly debuted Matriarch begin her crusade to rule over the DC Universe. “As heroes and villains alike fall to her insurmountable power, Wonder Woman and her daughter Trinity must unite to save all that they hold dear.” It also appears that Damian Wayne’s Batman and Jon Kent’s Superman may play key roles.
Narration for this issue comes from none other than Lex Luthor, who informs readers that the ground zero for the Wonder War begins in Metropolis, “at the assassination.” The preview cuts off before revealing whose assassination Luthor is referring to, but the art shows Damian, Lizzie, and Jon fully suited up.
DC has been teasing this Justice League icon’s demise for awhile; now it seems fans have to brace themselves for it to really happen this spring.
This is an epic moment, as the timeline suggests that Lizzie, Jon, and Damian have fully taken on their parents’ mantles, essentially forming the new Trinity. Based on Taylor’s previous Wonder Woman installments, we know Diana becomes Queen of Themyscira, making Lizzie’s transition into Wonder Woman a natural progression.
Similarly, Bruce would be in his 60s at this point, so it makes sense that Damian has assumed the Batman mantle. Jon has long shared the Superman mantle with his father, so his role is less of a shift. However, seeing all three hold these iconic mantles simultaneously is a significant moment.
Is Lizzie Set to Permanently Become the New Wonder Woman in Taylor’s Series?

What fans are witnessing in Wonder Woman #31 is essentially the next-generation version of the Trinity stepping forward, but it could also be hinting at much more. Taylor’s Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman series has primarily focused on Jon, Damian, and Lizzie, making it intriguing to see if Taylor will now bring Damian and Jon further into the forefront of his Wonder Woman series.
This is entirely possible, especially as a previous Wonder Woman issue revealed that Diana died during the Wonder War. Hence, DC could be setting Lizzie up to be their new Wonder Woman. It would therefore make sense that Damian and Jon would have a more prominent role in the series, as Lizzie adjusts to her role as Wonder Woman without her mother’s guidance. The only question is: would fans accept a Wonder Woman series in which Lizzie holds the mantle rather than her mother?
