Apple TV’s 3-Part Dystopian Sci-Fi Series Is One Of Its Best

Apple TV+’s dystopian sci-fi show Silo is one of the streamer’s best, and possibly one of the best dystopian shows ever made. Fans of dystopian science fiction have been treated well in recent years. From shows like Fallout to movies like Blade Runner 2049, dystopian fiction has ruled the screens for years. Even as the genre continues to dominate, however, a newer show is already making a name for itself.

That show is Silo. There’s a lot going for the show, from Silo‘s star-studded cast comprised of Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Robbins, and Common, to the incredible production value that comes from being an Apple TV+ show. Silo isn’t just another science fiction series, however, it’s a three-part masterpiece that every fan of dystopian fiction needs to start watching if they haven’t already.

Silo Is A Nearly Perfect Sci-Fi Dystopian Thriller

Silo is easily one of Apple TV+’s best sci-fi dystopian shows. Silo follows a group of people living in massive underground superstructures that protect them from a disaster that destroyed the world above. Those survivors in the silo live in a totalitarian society, one where being sent out into the wasteland is used as a capital punishment. Those who have been sent out always clean the camera displaying the outside world to the citizens of the silos.

That’s just the foundation of Silo‘s high-concept science fiction setting. It quickly gives way to a massive and utterly enthralling conspiracy thriller show that’s filled to the brim with twists and turns. Nothing is as it seems in the world of Silo, and the many mysteries of this far-future world are more than enough to keep you hooked. If you like conspiracy thrillers or dystopian sci-fi of any kind, Silo is for you.

Apple TV+ Has A Great Sci-Fi Catalog, But Silo Is Still Among Its Best

What makes Silo‘s status as one of Apple TV+’s best sci-fi shows is the sheer quality of the streaming service’s sci-fi catalog. Apple TV+ has positioned itself as the premiere sci-fi streamer for new original shows, and it has accomplished that by creating some of the best sci-fi shows of the last decade. Apple TV+’s best shows include For All Mankind, Severance, Pluribus, See, Foundation, Murderbot, and more.

Apple TV+’s sci-fi catalog shows no signs of slowing down, either. The streamer already has several new hits set up on the horizon, from the adaptation of the acclaimed novel Neuromancer to returning shows like Murderbot season 2, For All Mankind season 5, Severance season 3, Pluribus season 2, and more. Apple TV+ is constantly creating new hit sci-fi shows and continuing existing ones.

That huge catalog of sci-fi shows creates quite a bit of competition. On a streamer like, say, Prime Video, a new sci-fi show would only be compared to shows like The Expanse, whereas on Apple TV+, it’s compared to dozens of high-quality series. Despite all that stiff competition, Silo is still one of Apple TV+’s most impressive sci-fi offerings. It’s no easy feat to achieve that distinction, but Silo has earned it.

Silo Season 3 Is One Of The Most Exciting Upcoming Sci-Fi Shows

Silo only has two seasons at the time of writing, but it’s still a three-part show because Silo season 3 has already finished filming. The third season is expected to premiere sometime in late 2026, and it’s easily one of the most anticipated upcoming sci-fi shows of the entire year. Season 3 will start getting into the late stages of the books Silo is based on, and the questions fans have been pondering for years should finally start being answered.

10 Great Sci-Fi Books To Read If You Love Silo

Several great fantasy novels would make for interesting reads for those who enjoyed Apple TV+’s Silo series, which was based on a book series.

Silo has also been renewed for a fourth season already, however, so the third season won’t be just resolution. There are still plenty of twists and new mysteries to introduce and begin unraveling. Based on the first two seasons’ handling of their source material, Silo season 3 should be able to keep its momentum going. Now is the perfect time to watch Silo and get in on one of Apple TV+’s best sci-fi shows.
