Unfortunately though, Eve’s journey hasn’t been smooth sailing, and her abilities have some major limitations. When she was born, the government placed a mental block on the young hero, which restricted her from reaching her full potential. In addition, Atom Eve’s powers aren’t working properly in Invincible season 4 due to her pregnancy, making her unable to assist during big emergencies.
Despite these setbacks, Atom Eve remains one of Invincible‘s most powerful characters, as her current problems will likely be temporary, and she’s already proven that she can overcome her mental limiter. However, the former Teen Team member is even stronger than many first thought, and one of the show’s biggest villains just confirmed it during their big return.
Conquest Confirms Eve Defeated Him Back In Invincible Season 3
Shortly after the traumatic Invincible War, Mark found himself greeted by an even more menacing enemy, Conquest. The two did battle, but despite an attempted assist from Oliver, it was a pretty one-sided affair until Atom Eve got involved. She gave Mark some recovery time and landed a few blows on Conquest, but unsurprisingly, the Viltrumite eventually overpowered her.
This led to a devastating attack that seemed to be the end of Eve. Mark’s rage caused him to attack Conquest with pretty much everything he had, yet Conquest still managed to regain the advantage, putting the protagonist in a bleak situation. However, Atom Eve’s injuries granted her new powers in Invincible season 3’s finale.
Here, she blasted Conquest with a powerful beam of energy, which severely injured the villain, allowing Mark to finish the fight with a cluster of punches and headbutts. While Eve’s attack certainly turned the tide of the fight, Conquest continued to talk and even got back up to his feet at one point, suggesting Mark’s blows were what defeated him.
Remarkably, this wasn’t the whole truth, as Conquest gave Eve the credit for his defeat during his unexpected return. Mark was stunned to see the Viltrumite was still alive, claiming, “I killed you,” to which Conquest replied, “Let’s be honest, it was mostly your magic girlfriend.”
While it’s possible this was just an attempt to provoke Mark, it does seem as though Eve was predominantly responsible for taking down one of Invincible‘s most formidable antagonists, proving she’s even stronger than many viewers would have originally thought.
Mark Is Only Just Catching Up To Atom Eve Now
No matter how many times Mark gets beat up, there’s no denying he is one of the show’s best fighters, but only now in season 4 is he catching Eve’s true strength. While he still deserves credit for helping beat Conquest the first time, Eve was the real key to victory, but upon their second meeting, Mark took the Viltrumite down alone.
Sure, Omni-Man and Oliver had gotten involved previously, but by the time Mark and Conquest fought one-on-one, they were both relatively healthy. Their battle was not for the faint of heart, as it involved the protagonist choking out Conquest as they battled all over an unnamed planet, with Mark holding his grip even while having his intestines ripped out.
Invincible season 4, episode 5, “Give Us a Moment” currently sits at a 9.8 IMDb rating, the second-highest rated episode in the show’s history.
It was a bloody, brutal affair that saw the hero finally kill this powerful foe, and he didn’t need any help doing so. The confrontation proved that Mark isn’t just a better hero in Invincible season 4; he’s officially stronger than ever, meaning he has finally matched his girlfriend’s power level while continuing to live up to his alias.
Why Wasn’t Atom Eve Included In The Viltrumite War?
Given Eve is easily among Invincible‘s deadliest characters, some people may be confused as to why she isn’t involved in the Viltrumite War. Naturally, her pregnancy is the most obvious reason, but considering William is the only other character who knows about her current status, it may seem like a mystery that she wasn’t at least asked to help.
Alongside wanting to keep her safe, Mark was probably worried about her malfunctioning powers, not wanting to risk having her battle such strong enemies without them. Likewise, she can’t hold her breath in space nearly as long as the others, and while she could’ve made a helmet if her abilities were working properly, one punch would put her in jeopardy.
Still, with Allen and Nolan desperate for capable fighters to join this war, they could’ve at least floated the question to Eve, since it would ultimately be her choice if she wanted to go, just like it was Oliver’s. Therefore, the real reason they didn’t ask her probably comes down to not knowing how powerful she really is.
They’re presumably unaware that she took down Conquest, or that Eve is arguably stronger than Mark when fighting without any limitations. The last time Omni-Man saw her in Invincible, he wouldn’t have seen anything special in the hero, hence why Eve was overlooked for this conflict, even though she probably wouldn’t have gone anyway, given her current situation.
