As Boston Blue gears up for another weekly case, its upcoming episode will be extra special, as another fan-favorite Blue Bloods vet is about to appear. The 14-season CBS series was not like any other cop show on network TV, as at the heart of it was a family of law enforcers in New York. Blue Bloods featured a stacked cast, and while Danny and Sean are the only members of the clan moving to Beantown, Boston Blue has been making sure to keep the clan in touch.
Debuting in the 2025-2026 TV season and nearly a year after Blue Bloods officially ended its run, its very first sequel spinoff follows the father and son duo as they navigate their new life in New England, all while also getting to know the Silvers — Boston’s Reagan family counterpart. So far, Erin is the only member of the New York clan to make a cameo in the offshoot. That’s about to change, however, with the arrival of Henry Reagan in a few weeks.
Len Cariou recently talked to People Magazine to comment on his first appearance as the beloved Henry since Blue Bloods ended in 2024. The outlet caught up with the actor during the NYC premiere of his new show, American Classic, in late February. Spoken like his character, the actor expressed his excitement about reuniting with Donny Wahlberg and working for the first time with Mika Amonsen, who now plays Sean after the role was recast.
“It was great to see Donnie and meet the new great-grandchild.”
The Boston Blue gets its midseason trailer, which was released ahead of the show’s return from its winter hiatus, featured the first-look at Cariou’s return as Henry. The Reagan family patriarch is reportedly set to appear in episode 13 of the Blue Bloods spinoff. CBS has yet to release any official information about the outing, but there’s no bad time when it comes to seeing the fan-favorite character. After all, he is full of wisdom and knowledge, both from his personal and professional experiences.
Beyond his reunion with the father and son duo, it will also be curious to see if Boston Blue is staging an introduction between Henry and the Silver family. Like the Reagans, their Beantown counterparts like to gather for a meal to discuss their achievements and dilemmas. Erin’s Boston Blue appearance featured her joining them for dinner, and unsurprisingly, she quickly developed a rapport with the clan. It will be nice to see something like that for Henry as well.
While Henry doesn’t need any reason to travel to Boston other than to visit Danny and Sean, especially after everything that the pair has gone through in the last few months, it’s interesting if he has other appointments for visiting New England. His appearance will further open the door for more Reagan clan members to make an appearance in Boston Blue, because if he can take the time to personally check up on his grandson and great-grandson, then there’s no excuse for other clan members to do the same.
Boston Blue airs every Friday night, 10 PM ET on CBS.
