The season 2 premiere catches fans up with this darker version of New York City, where Daredevil and those fighting alongside him to take down Wilson Fisk have to hide in the shadows. A lot happens in episode 1, including Daredevil’s identity almost being revealed to the public, Cherry having a heart attack, Fisk’s ship capsizing, and more. That is why some might have missed an exciting tease.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2’s Premiere Features A Small Netflix Hero Tease
Daredevil: Born Again season 2’s cast does not feature Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, but there is another major Marvel hero from Netflix’s The Defenders Saga confirmed to appear. That is Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, and while she does not show up physically in the season 2 premiere, Jessica’s presence can definitely be felt. After Karen Page and Matt Murdock kiss, she says she’ll reach out to a friend.
Later, Karen reveals that her friend was none other than Jessica Jones, telling Matt that Jess was able to pull the ship’s manifest. It is through that information that they are able to determine who the ship’s captain and first mate are, which is crucial, since Fisk authorizes the AVTF to kill them. While Jessica Jones does not appear in the Daredevil: Born Again season 2 premiere, she is already influencing the story.
What Role Could Jessica Jones Play In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2?
Jessica’s role in episode 1 is set to grow throughout the season, and it seems like the premiere’s final minutes could explain why. Given how Cherry has a heart attack, which is the reason Daredevil gets distracted and is subsequently unmasked by the AVTF before Bullseye kills them, the character might have to stay on the sidelines moving forward.
What better replacement for Cherry in Daredevil’s army than a skilled PI who also happens to be a superhero? Jessica Jones would fit in like a glove on the team, and the fact that she is helping Matt and Karen off-screen suggests that she is fulfilling that role in some form already. If Jessica becomes a prominent member of Daredevil’s army, Fisk will have a hard time against them.
Jessica Jones having a big role in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 would also make sense for another reason. Ritter and Cox had undeniable chemistry in Netflix’s The Defenders, with the banter between their characters being among the funniest for MCU heroes. That dynamic surely deserves its time to shine in the MCU series, and by setting up Jessica’s return so early, Daredevil: Born Again raises excitement.
