The plant will manufacture a range of glassware products such as storage jars, glass bottles and glass jugs
The company will invest ₹42 crore to establish the new facility in Bharuch, with commercial production expected to begin by December 2026, subject to necessary approvals. The plant will manufacture a range of glassware products such as storage jars, glass bottles and glass jugs, and will be funded through internal accruals.
Borosil said it has been sourcing several of these glassware products from the Bharuch plant of Borosil Scientific Ltd, and demand across these product categories has been strong and growing. The new unit will therefore feature dedicated mass production lines aimed at catering to the increasing market demand.
Separately, the board also approved an expansion of the borosilicate glass furnace capacity for pressware products at its Jaipur plant. The company currently operates a 25-tonne-per-day (TPD) furnace with two forming lines, with capacity utilisation at about 90 per cent.
Under the plan, Borosil will increase the furnace capacity from 25 TPD to 32 TPD and add a third forming line, involving an estimated capital expenditure of ₹50 crore. The expansion will be aligned with the furnace rebuild cycle scheduled for January 2028.
The company said the capacity enhancement is expected to remove current production bottlenecks, support new product development and portfolio diversification, and improve furnace utilisation and operating efficiency, while also helping lower production costs and strengthen competitiveness.
