Campaign Evolved Free Download Unveiled For Xbox’s 25th Anniversary

Fans are gearing up for the 2026 launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved, and in celebration of Xbox’s 25-year anniversary, Microsoft has announced a unique and unexpected free download for the upcoming release when it launches later this year.

Xbox has officially teamed up in a completely surprising collaboration for a 25th-anniversary giveaway where players can get an exclusive and free in-game download in the coming months, in addition to several other unique rewards (via TrueAchievements).

Xbox Is Giving Away An… Unusual Halo Freebie

With Halo: Campaign Evolved expected to launch at any point this year, marketing for the remake is officially ramping up. One of what’s sure to be several new campaigns sees Xbox teaming up with an unexpected partner in Fanta. Players will be able to purchase Xbox-themed Fanta products featuring various games, including Forza, Call of Duty, Diablo 4, World of Warcraft, and of course, Halo.

Included in this promotion are several unique rewards that can be claimed by scanning the QR codes on select special-edition Fanta products and unlocking “interactive challenges.” There are three different “Fanta Rewards Chests” you can unlock by completing these challenges, which will allow players to enter into a sweepstakes for a chance to win the following valuable prizes:

  • ROG Xbox Ally
  • Xbox Series S
  • Xbox Wireless Controller
  • One month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (for new subscribers only)

Additionally, players will be able to claim unique in-game rewards for the above games, including Halo: Campaign Evolved when it releases later this year. The free download is for a “Master Chief’s Fantastic Spartan Armor” skin and will be redeemable immediately when the game launches.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Arrives Later This Year

Though we still don’t have a specific launch date for Halo: Campaign Evolved, fans speculate that it’s likely to drop sooner rather than later given multiple huge releases slated for later in the year. The game will be available as a Day One release on Xbox Game Pass, but will be available on PlayStation 5 as well, marking Master Chief’s debut appearance on PlayStation consoles.

While it’s an exciting time to be a Halo fan, the Campaign Evolved remake isn’t necessarily the new Halo release that most fans are getting hyped about. With no official next mainline multiplayer game announced for the franchise, players can’t help but speculate about when we’ll get an update on Halo’s future.

It’s abundantly clear that Halo Studios and Xbox Game Studios have extensive plans for campaign-focused content in the Halo universe, with rumors of a full trilogy reboot all but confirmed. But all of these projects pale in comparison to an official new multiplayer game that taps into the same elements that made fans fall in love with the franchise in the first place.
