Captain Marvel’s New Appearance Officially Brings Back Her Forgotten Superpower

Captain Marvel is gearing up for a major year, and 2026 is treating Carol Danvers right already. After all, the arrival of spring welcomed a brand-new series for Captain Marvel that is walking the superhero through her forgotten history. Captain Marvel: Dark Past is now live with its first issue, and the bold debut revives one of Carol’s greatest powers that fans haven’t seen in ages.

The situation breaks down as Carol finds herself confiding in Tony Stark, one of her greatest allies and friends. The hero takes a moment to tell Tony about an issue she’s having with her memory. Not only is Carol remembering scenes from her past she never knew about, but she is also having visions of the future. So after years of waiting, it seems Marvel is officially reviving Captain Marvel’s ‘Seventh Sense’.

“It’s all jumbled up. I think some of this hasn’t happened yet, but then I’ll see the black suit or maybe something I’d forgotten from the past,” Carol tells her friend, detailing the return of her precognitive abilities.

And what is it that Captain Marvel is remembering? It seems Carol’s senses are revisiting the dark past she shares with her father.

“There’s something with my dad, something I haven’t thought about in years… I don’t exactly what happened between us, but it’s important, Tony. And I can’t remember why.”

For those unfamiliar with Captain Marvel’s precognition, the ability dates back decades. When Carol was imbued with cosmic energy, the heroine found herself with her Seventh Sense, but not in the same way Spider-Man’s own precognition works. Rather than warning Carol of danger, this precognitive ability shows Carol windows into the future. The previews range in clarity from hunches to outright warnings, but they’re incredibly useful in battle. However, it has been some time since Marvel has leaned into this overpowered ability.

Now, Captain Marvel’s new series is revisiting the hero’s Seventh Sense, and it looks a little different than before. Not only is the power giving the hero flashes of the future, but it is uncovering obscured pieces of the past. Whatever secret history Carol has with her father will no doubt rock the Marvel icon to the core. The question is whether the revelation is worth the return of Captain Marvel’s most underrated ability.

Captain Marvel: Dark Past #1 is now on shelves. You can read more about the new series here: “THE LEGACY OF MS. MARVEL! As a cosmic level being, Captain Marvel has saved universes, thwarted alien invasions and even defeated a god or two. But when an attack on New York — bolstered by a mysterious group called DNVR — exposes a dark part of Carol’s family history, she’s forced to question everything she thought she knew about the Danvers name! Carol suspects that answers lie in an investigation she was forced to drop when she was a journalist, and as lost memories from her past as Ms. Marvel resurface, she’s faced with her toughest battle yet.”
