Though Denji has been through quite a bit of hardship, the finale has finally given both him and fans something to be happy about. Chapter #232, titled “Thank you, Chainsaw Man”, picks up where the series left off in a Pochita-less world, before a familiar character rushes in to save Denji from a horde of zombies.
Chainsaw Man’s Finale Sees the Long-Awaited Return of Power
Though she initially met her end in brutal fashion during the final arc of Chainsaw Man Part 1, Power, the Blood Devil, makes her triumphant return in the series’ finale. After Pochita erases himself in chapter #231, the events of the series appear to reset, and Denji is once again helplessly facing the horde of zombies he defeated as Chainsaw Man in the first chapter.
The betrayal on the part of Yakuza plays out the same way it did in chapter #1, though as Denji questions whether he’s finally met his end, he notices a woman fighting off the zombies. She introduces herself as Power, heals Denji, and claims he belongs to her until he dies.
Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc Ending Explained: How the Anime Sets Up Season 2
Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc’s ending builds up Denji’s character for a new season. Here’s how the movie sets up Chainsaw Man Season 2.
The moment acts as a full-circle ending of sorts for the series. During Part 1’s climax, Power and Denji made a contract that saved the titular hero’s life. In exchange, he was tasked with finding the next Blood Devil. Chapter #232 marks the second time Power has saved Denji, and proves she would have been part of his life regardless of his identity as Chainsaw Man.
Nayuta also appears during the finale, taking the place of Makima and hiring Denji and Power as devil hunters. The duo then go on to prevent Asa Mitaka from killing Bucky, which prevents her later meeting with Yoru and the War Devil conflict.
Chainsaw Man’s Finale Has Arrived Without any Notice of a Third Part
Chapter #232 Appears to Be Chainsaw Man’s Last
Though Chainsaw Man chapter #232 was marketed as its finale, many fans held out hope for a notice that the series would continue in a third part. As of now, it appears the latest chapter will truly be Chainsaw Man‘s last, closing the story on a bittersweet final note with Power’s return.
There is ample set-up in the final chapter should creator Tatsuki Fujimoto decide to continue the series. Denji is seen using a chainsaw despite Pochita’s self-erasure, something that should not exist, while Aki was suspiciously absent from his devil hunter role.
Thankfully for fans of the series who couldn’t stomach further heartbreak, Chainsaw Man‘s final chapter gives Denji the good ending that was long overdue. There is currently no confirmation of a third part, though his future devil hunting adventures with Power would make for an endlessly entertaining read, should the series continue.
Chainsaw Man chapter #232 is currently available to read on Manga Plus.
