Developer Pearl Abyss has certainly created an enormously ambitious project with a sprawling open world, and it feels like one of those games that you’re just going to have to try for yourself if you want to know whether you like it or not.
As with many AAA games, that won’t come particularly cheap, but there is a way you can pick up the game at no extra cost with qualifying purchases from hardware manufacturer AMD.
You Can Still Grab A Free Copy Of Crimson Desert
As first reported by Tech Power Up, the developer of Crimson Desert has directly collaborated with AMD to give away free copies of their game with purchases of specific models of graphics cards and other pieces of hardware.
The offer includes current-gen 3D V-Cache-augmented gaming model processors, and RDNA 4 generation graphics cards, though with both of those, it’s only the more expensive models that qualify for the free game offer.
If you were planning to upgrade anyway, it’s a nice little incentive to sweeten the deal with the full list of products that are currently included in the deal as follows:
Processors
- AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
- AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D
- AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Graphics Cards
- AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
- AMD Radeon RX 9070
At the same time, the offer also applies to quite a few different OEM systems that run on eligible AMD processors. It’s important to note that the list of processors is considerably larger if you’re buying a full system, so just make sure to check the terms to see if Crimson Desert is included when making your purchase.
Crimson Desert Reviews Have Been… Mixed
As mentioned earlier, Crimson Desert is just about as divisive a game as we’ve seen in the last decade or so, with some hailing it as one of the best games they’ve played in a long time and others simply calling it boring and not worth any of your time.
The story has proven to be a particular point of contention, with many accusing it of lacking charm, though the visuals are more consistently praised and performance has generally held up quite well regardless of whether you’re playing on a PS5 pro or not.
Our own review scores it a 7/10, with plenty of areas for potential improvement as the developer continues to update it. In any case, this seems like one that you should try for yourself if you’re a fan of the genre, and Crimson Desert may surprise you if you do.
