Whilst much praise has been given to the stunning visuals and certain gameplay elements, others feel that there’s too much filler content and not enough charm to the game’s narrative. Whatever the case may actually be, it’s an enormous project and one that’s well worth trying for yourself to see if you can wrap your head round exactly what developer Pearl Abyss was going for.
As part of the launch events for the game, the studio has also confirmed that a bunch of free downloads are available for players to take advantage of, and all you have to do is watch some Twitch to get them unlocked.
Crimson Desert’s First Batch Of Free Downloads Has Landed
Over on the official Pearl Abyss website, you can find a page detailing the first round of Crimson Desert Twitch Drops, with two full weeks of items to collect if you commit enough time to it. If you aren’t familiar with the concept of Twitch Drops, then essentially all you need to do is link one of your game accounts and watch a streamer playing the game.
Passing certain time milestones will then unlock unique cosmetics for you to download for your own character to use in-game. The full list of items available to pick up this time around is as follows:
Week One
- 60 Min. Watched — Braised Meat x10/Blue Scout Lantern
- 120 Min. Watched — Blue Scout Earring/Blue Scout Ring/Blue Scout Necklace
- 180 Min. Watched — Blue Scout Shield
- 300 Min. Watched — Blue Scout Cloak/Blue Scout Armor/Blue Scout Hat
Week Two
- 60 Min. Watched — Blue Scout Stirrups
- 120 Min. Watched — Blue Scout Champron
- 180 Min. Watched — Blue Scout Saddle
Week One runs from March 19 – March 25, with Week Two running from March 26 – April 1, so make sure to get your minutes in during those windows to get the corresponding items.
What Did We Think Of Crimson Desert?
Our own review by Lee D’Amato concluded that the experience is somewhere in the middle of those who love or hate the game, giving Crimson Desert a 7/10, and calling it “Ambitious to a fault.” You should check out the review for yourself, as it’s a huge game and there’s a ton of nuance and detail to get to grips with in Screen Rant’s overall impressions. It isn’t a game that’ll be for everyone, but it may well be for you!
