Crimson Desert Studio’s Next Game Is GTA 6 Meets Pokémon

It’s quite possible that you’re currently sinking hundreds of hours into Crimson Desert. Searching for the perfect mount for Kliff or perhaps searching every fireplace you find for hidden gold bars. You might not even have stopped clotheslining bandits long enough to wonder what’s next for Pearl Abyss?

If you have been wondering though, you can stop immediately and get back to your Greymane camp. Thanks to inven sharing Pearl Abyss’ recent shareholder meeting content, we know exactly what type of game the team behind Black Desert Online and Crimson Desert are currently working on. Oh, and it doesn’t disappoint. A mix of GTA 6 and Pokémon…where do I sign up?

It would seem that Pearl Abyss is shifting away from their MMO roots and working on a colorful open world game with a focus on capturing creatures. As Crimson Desert fans are acutely aware, they are true experts at creating interesting open worlds with plenty of activities and secrets to uncover. Imagine an open world map to rival the upcoming GTA 6 and combine it with cute creature-capture battles. What’s not to love?

DokeV has been in development for over seven years but with the majority of Pearl Abyss’ team now focused on the project, it’s going to be here sooner than you think. Pearl Abyss have already proven themselves as masters of creating beautiful open worlds with stunning vistas and plenty to explore. DokeV looks just as gorgeous as Crimson Desert with a splash of color and anime-style characters keeping it kid-friendly.

DokeV Is Very Different To Crimson Desert

Less Blood More Cuddles

DokeV presents a vibrant open world filled with dream-powered creatures known as the Dokebi. Once you’ve befriended them, they will adventure right alongside you, exploring everything the open world has to offer. The creatures themselves are tied into folklore and dreams, making them appealing to all members of the family. The bonds you’ll form make this a little more than just a gotta catch em all affair! Will you be able to find and mount dragons like in Crimson Desert though? Time will tell!

The game promises real-time combat as opposed to turn-based, which will hopefully lead to some epic boss battles and showdowns. Also, traversing the world looks like a lot of fun with the trailer showing everything from flying umbrellas, skateboards and even jet-skis to get around on. Sure, it might lack the vehicular prowess of GTA 6, but we’d all much rather float from a hilltop with a magical umbrella than burn rubber in a Bugatti…wouldn’t we?

DokeV has no official release date yet, but it’s expected some time in 2027. Which means, by the time it comes out, we’ll all be done with GTA 6 and might be looking for another open world adventure to sink our teeth into. Me personally, I’m fairly confident I’ll still be grinding for abyss cores and trying to capture bountys in Crimson Desert well into next year, so I’m in no hurry to see DokeV just yet! Take all the time you need Pearl Abyss.
