Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Updates Gamers On Future DLC

Cyberpunk 2077 came out all the way back in 2020, but with how much people still talk about it, you’d think it was a recent release. That goes double for whenever side projects like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners come out.

But now, on X, developer CD Projekt Red has provided an update for Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. Given their answer, it has now definitively sunk in how old 2077 is.

Cyberpunk 2077 Studio CDPR Updates Fans On DLC Plans

You May Not Want To Hear It

It seems like the studio has given us an updated, definitive answer on what to expect from future Cyberpunk 2077 content. Here’s the full statement from CD Projekt Red: “We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions. If anything changes, we will inform you all!”

While we may not ever get any additional content for Cyberpunk 2077 again, the community is hard at work every single day on new mods. They’ve even toyed with the idea of adding multiplayer to 2077, amid many graphical tweaks and changes the community is proposing on a regular basis.

It’s really a wonder how full the game is now, given the community efforts and the Phantom Liberty DLC expansion. It’s a completely different game, especially if you’re playing on updated hardware and taking advantage of all the graphical and performance smoothing that’s been done since launch. I remember what it was like on PC when it came out, and it’s like night and day now.

The Witcher 4 Is The Focus Right Now

Take Your Time

Fans are hyper-focused on The Witcher 4, which works out, because so is CD Projekt Red. All of their development resources are now funneled into Witcher 4 and the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077, which will hopefully have a better launch than its successor.

The Witcher is still cruising along at high speed, with multiple seasons of the Netflix TV show, myriad rumors of a DLC linking Witcher 3 and 4, and copiouscross-media projects. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon and is considered a crown jewel of the CD Projekt Red repertoire, alongside Cyberpunk.

A fifth (and final) season of The Witcher TV show is also in the works, and there is potential for side projects there, too. The Witcher universe is vast, and with any luck, CD Projekt Red will revive its Gwent spinoff once again. There’s a lot of potential in The Witcher beyond Geralt, and we’re going to see a taste of that when The Witcher 4 is out, featuring Ciri.

If we never get a DLC again for Cyberpunk 2077, I’d be okay with it. Phantom Liberty is pretty comprehensive on its own, and all the quality-of-life fixes and content patches so far for the game have been sufficient. Now, we wait for the next projects to drop.
