As mentioned, it was Cyberpunk RED, and its inspired RPG Cyberpunk 2077 that reignited the audience’s love for the genre, and whilst we wait for CD Projekt RED to work on that highly anticipated sequel, I have compiled a list of ten games which capture the setting, atmosphere, and general storytelling that we received back in 2020 with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. So, if you are looking to soak yourself in neon and the fall of society, these games are guaranteed to be just what you are looking for. Although many of these games are yet to be released, with the news that Cyberpunk 2077‘s sequel may arrive in 2030 at the earliest, these will be the perfect titles to play in the meantime.

No Law
Although not yet released, No Law is a cyberpunk-esque title which has been gaining quite a lot of traction lately. Set in Port Desire, a lawless city where what you want is not what you always get, you will take on the role of Grey Harker, an ex-military officer who wants nothing but a peaceful life after surviving a fatal injury on the field. However, in this first-person, story rich, cyber-noire shooter, trouble often finds you, and Harker finds himself back on the streets of Port Desire in an attempt to take back what was stolen from him.
Developed by Neon Giant, No Law does not yet have a release date, but if you are looking for a cyber-noire shooter set in another futuristic city where you can take the law into your own hands, this is one you’ll want to add to your wishlist.

Replaced
Set to launch on 14 April 2026, Replaced is a dark cyberpunk thriller set in an alternate 1980s America. With the world scarred by the effects of a nuclear catastrophe, you will take on the role of R.E.A.C.H., an AI trapped inside a human body. Now that the sinister Phoenix Corporation is running the streets, it is up to you to navigate this narrative-driven 2.5D platformer which combines stunning neon-soaked cinematics with fluid, free-flow action. Featuring pixel-art graphics, and the bright colors which cut through the darkness, such as you expect in the cyberpunk genre, Replaced is guaranteed to be an underrated gem this year.

Nivalis
As the inspiration behind this list, Nivalis is a cyberpunk-inspired game which has been on my wishlist since it was first unveiled. Developed by ION Lands, Nivalis is an upcoming life simulation title set in a dystopian world. In the city of Nivalis, the city stretches from the oceans to the clouds, and it will be up to you to grow your business, manage restaurants and nightclubs, make friends (and maybe even enemies), buy and decorate apartments, and maybe even spare the time to go fishing. Put simply, Nivalis is your city to conquer, and as you build your empire, find love, and make that all-important money, you will soon learn that the city has more to it than meets the eye.

Steel Soul Shaper
Putting a unique spin on the genre is Steel Soul Shaper, a narrative-driven simulation game where you will take on the role of a skilled cyberware surgeon. Running your own shop in the back alleys of a cyberpunk city, you will be charged with repairing and modifying your client’s cyberware whilst hearing their stories, uncovering their secrets, and maybe even helping shape the course of destiny in a world where you make your own luck. After recently playing a similar game titled D1AL-OGUE earlier this year, I just had to include Steel Soul Shaper as proof that the cyberpunk genre can exist in many different forms.

Midnight Wave
If you are a fan of side-scrolling tactical RPGs, then you will want to add Midnight Wave to your wishlist. Developed by Andrew Walthall, this “samurai cyberpunk tactical action RPG” combines immense customization with narrative choice and innovative gameplay mechanics to bring you a world full of katanas, mega corporations, and elemental powers. Inspired by legendary titles such as Fire Emblem and Super Smash Brothers, Midnight Wave offers a genre mashup with that all-important cyberpunk setting.

ReBlade: The Death Spiral
Gifted with the world’s edgiest name, ReBlade: The Death Spiral is an action RPG set in a cyberpunk world inspired by Chinese mythology. With every run, you will get closer to the truth of Synthetics, and their condemned nature. As you rip the truth out of this cyber-mythic city, you will master the rhythm of combat, survive their trials, and defy your very fate.

Syncblade
On the subject of rhythm, Syncblade is an upcoming rhythm game where you will play as Akemi, a unique samurai girl who can use music to slash through waves of Zombeats thanks to Jarsick’s advanced music analysis system. As you share and create custom tracks which you can share with players all over the world, you can also slash-and-hack your way across any piece of music you like. Putting a unique twist on the cyberpunk genre, Syncblade will allow you to import your favorite tunes, wield your katana, and cut down zombies in style.

Supreme Experiment
In a world abandoned by humans, machines have taken over by evolving into a whole new species in Supreme Experiment. Now, with their own gods, they are at the top of the food chain, but it will be up to you to discover if humanity is worth saving. Survive, fight, and explore the broken world as you travel across the Spire Cities consisting of towers stretching eight kilometers into the sky, high above the toxic clouds. With the city in the clouds being the last bastion of humanity, you will need to discover why resources suddenly stopped, but by venturing into the world below, we will discover a lot more than we bargained for on a surface governed by intelligent machines. Featuring stunning visuals and a dystopian world like we have never seen before, Supreme Experiment is yet another upcoming title that deserves a spot on your wishlist.

Once again offering us a twist on the cyberpunk genre with a more narrative-driven title, All Our Broken Parts will see you take on the role of a robot doctor. In a city where robots live amongst humans, an illness is spreading, and it is up to you to crack open shells and discover where is causing the mysterious ailment.
