Elden Ring: Dark Moon Is An Interesting Fan Expansion
Created by Luna Alexander, Elden Ring: Dark Moon is a free-to-download mod for Elden Ring courtesy of Nexus Mods. Released back in 2022, but with updates added up until 2024, Dark Moon offers a complete overhaul to the base game, with a focus both on new content and, the most important of all: fashion.
In an attempt to breathe new life into Elden Ring, the Dark Moon mod adds plenty of new features and content. This includes: new armor, weapons, items, and spells, as well as huge updates to character customization. Perhaps most excitingly, is the addition of the Boss Resurrection mechanic, which will allow the player to resurrect bosses by speaking to the Ranni Puppet. It will cost one Larval Tear per resurrection, but worry not, as they are now available to purchase from the Twin Maiden Husks.
Elden Ring: Dark Moon also adds brand-new content to the game, such as The Arena and The Isle of Bounty. The Arena is a combat ordeal hosted in various colosseums around the Lands Between. Speaking to the Ranni Puppet once again will see you begin the various waves against random enemies, and all you have to do is survive. Additionally, the Puppet will sell you various armor and weapons in exchange for gold coins.
As for The Isle of Bounty, it is a peaceful little island inhabited by Caretaker, a mysterious woman who has forgotten her past. Here, players will be able to decorate her home with flora and fauna, as well as replenish her farm with every item in the game. Featuring a beautiful and peaceful setting, this is the perfect place to come when you are fed up with getting your a** kicked in the main game.
Elden Ring Modders Are Keeping The Game Alive
As well as all of that, Elden Ring: Dark Moon also welcomes a combat overhaul to various systems, new merchants, and a major emphasis on fashion, so it is clear that this free mod adds everything you may have been lacking from the base game, and then some. It also goes to show how much the Elden Ring modding community is keeping the game alive whilst the rest of us wait to find out what FromSoftware will do next. With fan-made survival mods to complete overhauls, there is always a reason to return to the Lands Between in Elden Ring.
