Digital advertising witnesses accelerated momentum in 2025 : TAM AdEx

Digital ad impressions witnessed a substantial surge, increasing more than five-fold in 2025 compared to 2021 and over 2.5 times over 2024, as per data released by TAM AdEx. It said this underscored the accelerated momentum in digital advertising.

From a quarterly perspective, Q4 CY 2025 recorded a 15 per cent growth compared to Q1 CY 2025, also reflecting a strong upward trajectory in each quarter, the report added.

Services, education and personal accessories were ranked among the top three sectors in terms of share of digital ad impressions in 2025. “The Top 2 sectors added more than 50 per cent share of ad impressions on Digital medium, the TAM AdEx report noted.

In terms of categories, online shopping was the leading category with 12 per cent share of ad impressions in CY 2025. Other categories ranked among the top ten in terms of share of digital ad impressions included online services, e-commerce clothing, digital education, social media & entertainment, software, cars and retail outlets among others.“ Cumulatively, the top 10 categories added 42 per cent share of ad impressions,” the report added.

The top five advertisers in 2025 in terms of share of digital ad impressions included Flipkart, Amazon, Adobe India, Hindustan Unilever and Reliance Retail. Cumulatively, the top ten advertisers contributed 15 per cent share to the overall digital ad impressions in 2025. Meanwhile, over 120, 000 advertisers exclusively publicised on digital medium during 2025.

“Among Web Publishers, Instagram had the highest share of ad impressions of 65 per cent in CY 2025. Programmatic was the most popular method for promoting Ads on Digital platforms, accounting for 95.8 per cnet of total ad impressions during the year,” the report noted.
