Avengers: Doomsday is only nine months away from arriving in theaters, and as audience members are waiting to see Victor von Doom’s MCU arrival, welove__marvel and s.a_editsz shared new artwork of what Downey Jr. could look like with the villain’s huge disfigurement. Check it out below:
The Avengers: Doomsday art sees Downey Jr. in Doctor Doom’s iconic armor, while having removed his mask, showing the intense disfiguration, which would be one of the biggest horrific elements to bring to life from the comics.
Throughout March, there have been numerous rumors about the Avengers: Doomsday story, in particular, how Marvel Studios is approaching their take on Victor with Downey Jr. While it has yet to be confirmed, the rumblings are that the heroes won’t see Doctor Doom’s face, nor will the audience.
Instead, Avengers: Secret Wars will tackle the repercussions and effects of Doctor Doom’s unmasking in the MCU timeline. Another rumor has claimed that Victor’s face was disfigured in the accident involving his wife and son, who died in said event, leading to the Marvel foe’s body being damaged and injured.
Outside of him being part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, official details about Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom have been extremely limited. This arc is one of the biggest things to happen in The Multiverse Saga, which initially began with Kang as the central antagonist.
In one way or another, Avengers: Doomsday will have to depict Doctor Doom’s disfigurement, as that is a central part of his entire character history. How far Marvel Studios is willing to take that is the biggest question, as MCU films are known for taking liberties with adapting various comic elements.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to open in theaters on December 18.
