Every Major Death in Jujutsu Kaisen (And How They Died)
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the bloodiest new-gen shōnen series, as the author Gege Akutami doesn’t hesitate to kill off villains and beloved characters alike. Starting from the Shibuya Incident Arc, fans face some of the most heartbreaking deaths. While Nobara Kugisaki survived a direct soul injury by Mahito, Kento Nanami didn’t have the same luck.
Even so, Nanami’s influence lingered through Takuma Ino, who used his cursed tool in Jujutsu Kaisen, chapter 246, to distract Sukuna so Yuji could strike him. Furthermore, although Toji Fushiguro died before the events of the main series, he was resurrected in Shibuya and was last mentioned when Gojo revealed to Megumi that he had murdered his father in chapter 268.
Another character with a peculiar death was Naoya Zenin, who, instead of being killed by cursed energy, returned as a cursed spirit only to trigger Maki Zenin’s awakening and be exorcized. The following lists all the major deaths in Jujutsu Kaisen by story arcs.

On the other hand, despite the tragic deaths, the worst for fans was that of Satoru Gojo. After his death, at an airport that functioned as a temporary limbo, Gojo decides whether to go south and remain as himself or go north for a different life. Gojo ultimately chose to go south.
What Happens to the Characters in Jujutsu Kaisen’s Finale
In the finale of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, it is revealed that Yuta Okkotsu regained his original body thanks to Rika, who preserved it using the Reverse Curse Technique. At the end, Yuta is seen with his fellow second-year sorcerers, Inumaki, Panda, and Maki. Having lost two of his cores, Panda remained small and unable to return to his original size.
Other characters who survived the Battle of Shinjuku include Aoi Todo, whose hand was replaced with a vibraslap, Kasumi Miwa, Ui Ui, Ino, Miguel, and Larue. While their future remains uncertain, Ui Ui is destined to become the next leader of the “New Shadow Style” after Kusakabe, who obtained the title thanks to Mei Mei.
Takaba’s New Partner Looks Familiar
In chapter #270 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Takaba appears trying to advance his comedy career with a partner who bears a suspicious resemblance to Kenjaku. The story leaves it unclear whether this is simply someone who looks like Kenjaku or if Takaba used his cursed technique to recreate the person who seemed to truly understand his humor.
Higuruma Returned To Be a Lawyer
While recovering from his injuries sustained in the fight with Sukuna, Higuruma also resumed practicing law after it was revealed that he had not been charged with the murder of the judge and prosecutor thanks to pressure from the Jujutsu headquarters. Higuruma’s assistant, Shimizu, vowed to do everything possible to win the lawsuit filed against him by the victims’ families.
Gojo and Sukuna Faced a Similar Decision
The ultimate fate of Satoru Gojo is that his dream came true, as it was inherited by his students, since he wanted Yuji to carry on after his death. Gojo wanted the new generation to transform the world of sorcery without depending on him.
On the other hand, Sukuna’s fate is tied to his decision after his death. Sukuna faced the same choice as Gojo on the pathway of Souls, where he encountered Mahito. In the end, Sukuna chooses the north to start anew with Uraume, thus maintaining the contrast between the two characters, since Gojo chose the south to return to his old self.
Yuji, Megumi and Nobara’s Ending
In Jujutsu Kaisen‘s finale, after her crucial comeback in the climax of the battle against Sukuna, Nobara returned to her usual self and now wears a patch over her left eye. Megumi found a new reason to live and visited Tsumiki’s grave.
During the epilogue, Megumi promised to be Hana Kurusu’s “right-hand,” feeling responsible, which she took as a marriage proposal, making him uncomfortable. Their relationship was left open. Yuji decided to continue helping people, inspired by his last conversation with Gojo. The main trio of sorcerers from Jujutsu Kaisen ended up laughing together as they went on missions.
Every Original Jujutsu Kaisen Character Alive in the Sequel
Taking place 68 years later, most of the original cast of Jujutsu Kaisen has already passed away in the sequel. As first revealed in Jujutsu Kaisen‘s epilogue, in the sequel manga, Yuta Okkotsu became the head of the Gojo family and married Maki Zenin. However, Maki died first, followed by Yuta, approximately six years before the events of the sequel.

|

A comment made by Nobara implies Fushiguro has already passed away. |
Other characters who died before Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo include Megumi Fushiguro, Hana Kurusu, and Panda. According to the epilogue of Jujutsu Kaisen, Panda began to lose his functions in 2035, and since he was mostly inactive, he was stored in the Gojo clan’s warehouse. Despite this, Panda appears in a bonus page of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo and in chapters 24 and 25.
Yuji Itadori
Yuji Itadori became Jujutsu Kaisen‘s strongest sorcerer. However, after consuming the Death Paintings, Yuji became a hybrid of curse and human, thus preventing him from aging. Yuji maintained a neutral stance during the conflict, remaining outside the Jujutsu Headquarters after the deaths of his friends deeply affected him.
Even so, he helps Maru, fighting Mahito to activate the alien’s Cursed Technique and eradicate the cursed spirits. Yuji will be foreseeing the spawning cursed spirits, as he still has around 300 years of life left. Yuji believes the best course of action for the future is for someone to devour his fingers once he becomes a cursed object to gain power if necessary.
Nobara Kugisaki
Nobara Kugisaki was interviewed by Jujutsu headquarters to find out if she knew Yuji’s whereabouts. She admitted to not having been in contact with Yuji since Hana Kurusu’s funeral and expressed her displeasure that Itadori had stopped contacting her so as not to upset her.
Nobara felt Yuji underestimated her, but she forgives him in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo chapter 25, with the two of them conversing like in the old days and deciding to look for ways to guarantee the safety of people in the future after the imminent extinction of the sorcerers.
Mahito
Mahito first appeared in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo chapter 7, where the special-grade sorcerer mistook Tsurugi Okkotsu for Yuji. This revealed that Mahito had been waiting for Yuji in the Pathway of Souls for over six decades. Yuji and Mahito finally had their long-awaited rematch. But the curse was no match for Yuji’s power.
Ui Ui
In Modulo Chapter 15, Dabura encounters a figure with a cape who is revealed as Ui Ui. Ui Ui has a noticeably aged appearance, although he is younger than Nobara and has her sister Mei Mei’s signature braid. This opened the debate on if Ui Ui used her cursed technique to transfer her soul into Mei Mei’s body.
Ui Ui has his own disciples with a similar style to him and Mei Mei, and in chapter 25 it is unveiled that he used crows to record the fight of Dabura and Mahoraga, helping the image of aliens among the Japanese public. The fact that Ui Ui’s can use crows confirms he switched bodies with his sister.
Rika Orimoto
In chapter 17 of Modulo, just as Tsurugi Okkotsu was about to lose against Maru, Yuta’s ring began to glow, and Rika appeared, saying that Yuta himself had asked her to help his grandson. Rika’s cursed energy fully merged with Tsurugi, allowing him to reach a new level of power. After the battle, the spirit of the original Rika Orimoto briefly appeared.
Every Descendant Introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, Explained
Among the descendants of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s characters are the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu. However, little is known about their father, Iori Okkotsu, other than that he disagreed with the way sorcerers had weakened and that he abandoned his children and disappeared at the age of 39 after a conversation with Yuji one night.
Kou Usami, the sorcerer who oversaw the alliance between aliens and sorcerers and helped Tsurugi and Yuka, is implied to be the descendant of the strongest Grade 1 sorcerer, Usami, who never made a formal appearance in the original manga. Even so, Usami might also be related to Toge Inumaki, since he can use cursed speech.
Another unconfirmed descendant appeared on a bonus page in chapter #20 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Usami’s assistant, Mino, calls someone who appears to be Hakari’s daughter, as she not only has dyed hair and piercings but also appears gambling on a pachinko machine and uses the expression “hot,” just like Hakari.
The biggest surprise might be the one who appears to be the son of Kasumi Miwa and Arata Nitta in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo chapter 12. The sorcerer who accompanies Usami exploring Tokyo has mismatched bangs like Miwa and a design similar to Nitta’s, in addition to his characteristic bolo tie.
