Fallout 3 Remastered Release Date Is Closer Than We Imagined

Fallout 3 was the first game released in the Bethesda era of the franchise, pivoting the series to a 3D perspective and transporting players to Washington D.C’s Capital Wasteland, from which it has never really looked back.

At the time of its release, the game was pretty spectacular, with impressive graphics and a ton of new lore and enemies for fans of the games to get stuck into.

That said, it has definitively started to show its age over the last 18 years, and without the power of modding, it can be a little weird to go back to it in 2026. That’s why demands for, and rumors of, a remaster have begun to grow louder, and it could be on the way a lot sooner than we first thought.

Fallout 3 Remastered Is Almost Certainly Coming This Year

Over the last couple of years, more and more tidbits of information have started to emerge that suggest a remaster of Fallout 3 is coming imminently down the pipeline. The biggest clue came when an uncensored internal Bethesda document was accidentally shared during the FTC case around Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard.

Outside of that, insiders have consistently claimed that it’s on the way, and noise around the remaster has continued to grow. Now, as first reported by TweakTown, a new figurine listing from McFarlane Toys has been posted with the title ELITE EDITION 7IN – FALLOUT 3 REMASTERED – #13 T-45B NUKA COLA.

McFarlane Toys in China has also listed the product, and this is just about as solid a piece of information as any that the remaster is not only happening, but coming very soon (almost certainly this year). Both companies have listed the expected shipping date for the figure as July, which they would more than likely want to coincide with the release of the remaster.

This Is The One Fallout Fans Have Waited For

On a personal note, Fallout 3 is the game that distills the essence of the franchise into playable form the most successfully, with the Capital Wasteland easily the bleakest location we’ve had to explore so far.

That said, not being able to aim down sights and having a ton of buildings that players simply can’t interact with has definitely dated the experience, and the whole thing is absolutely ripe for a remaster, with some additional quality of life features and locations to explore.

Fingers crossed that we either get confirmation from Bethesda about the Fallout 3 remaster soon, or that they just drop the thing on our collective heads, in the same way they did with Oblivion.
