However, with no release window for the third installment yet announced by Square Enix, a recent update has left fans feeling hyped for the culmination of the remake trilogy.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Is Closer Than We Thought
Set to launch on multiple platforms, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is expected to be the biggest launch yet, and now, according to the game’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, Part 3 has entered “the final push phase,” meaning that we will see it arrive a lot sooner than we had first thought. In an interview with Automaton, Hamaguchi’s comments could coincide with previous rumors that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 would launch in 2027 to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original game.
When asked about the game’s development, Hamaguchi said, “The third installment is progressing very smoothly, and we’re almost exactly on schedule with the milestones we set at the beginning of the project. The game is already in a playable state, and right now, we’re in the final push phase, refining and building up the experience. We’re at the stage where the quality improves day by day, and each time we play it, the scenery feels different, so it’s genuinely exciting.”
“I think it won’t be too long before we’re able to share some kind of update with everyone.”
Final Fantasy Fans Are Getting Pretty Excited
Following the substantial update by Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3′s game director, fans took to r/FinalFantasy to share their thoughts on the potential of the third and final entry arriving as early as next year. “People don’t give Square enough credit for this FF release schedule. Remake, Rebirth, FF16, Tactics remake, and Remake Part 3 all within 10 years,” one user pointed out. Another agreed, adding, “I’ve been saying for a while what they’re doing with the FF7R games from a sheer development perspective is astonishing and needs to be studied by the rest of the industry. They’re getting these mammoth-sized games out in 3–4 years. There is literally no other AAA sequel this gen that has achieved this.”
Another user shared when the best dates would be for the trilogy finale, writing, “It basically has three dates it could theoretically release on for a 30th anniversary release, 1/31/27, 9/7/27, or 11/17/27, for the Japan, United States, and Europe original releases.”
This would make for one thrilling 30th anniversary celebration, so here is hoping that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3‘s development stays on track for that 2027 launch date…
