Final Fantasy, Zelda Collide In New RPG You Can Try Free Now

A new RPG on Steam that blends Final Fantasy with The Legend of Zelda can be tried out for free right now, ahead of its upcoming release. We are still in March, but it’s already proven to be a great year for RPGs. Aside from the highly anticipated release of Fable, for example, and the eagerness around both The Witcher 4, The Elder Scrolls 6, and Divinity, there are several smaller games within the genre that are coming out and are proving to be quite surprising.

An example of a promising new RPG is Ghostforged, created by Wardwell Games. The indie title has yet to receive a definitive release date or release window, but players can already check out Ghostforged for free via its playable demo. Available on Steam, the demo can be downloaded without any extra costs, and playing it will give you a better understanding of both the story being told and the gameplay mechanics inspired by classics.

Ghostforged Needs To Be On Your Radar

This Game Has Classic JRPG Vibes

Combat in Ghostforged highlights Seraphine’s turn.

Ghostforged looks like a promising RPG on Steam. The title is a story-driven JRPG with turn-based combat that is “inspired by classics of the genre,” like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. In Ghostforged, you’ll control six different heroes to face a darkness that threatens the world. The game is set in the kingdom of Embervale, which began to wither after the arrival of a figure known as The Mage.

In his wake, war raged on, and the dead started to rise, as villages started to be razed. The game starts following Prudence, a warrior who wanders Embervale after her brother, Brennan, fell during the first few battles against The Mage. Prudence will then find like-minded adventurers, like Seraphine, Tristan, Elda, and Cameron, who will join her in the fight against darkness.

The Final Fantasy Vibes Are Strong

Ghostforged Is Inspired By Classic JRPGs

The whole plot seems like something straight out of a Final Fantasy game or The Legend of Zelda, but the similarities don’t end there. In terms of gameplay, players will be met with random encounters, allowing them to fight and level up their characters, much like the random battles from Square Enix’s games, especially the older ones. The game is expected to last around 12 hours.

During that time, you’ll upgrade your characters with over 80 skills, which will offer you different types of strategies during combat. Like a good JRPG, there will also be hidden areas to find throughout Embervale, according to the developers at Wardwell Games.

Ghostforged already seems like a remarkable new JRPG. If you’re interested in games in the genre, especially those like Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda, I encourage you to check out the free demo for Ghostforged on Steam.
