2026’s The Bride!, a Bride of Frankenstein reimagining starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale, is the first theatrical release from Warner Bros. to come after the surprise development that Paramount Skydance outbid Netflix to acquire the company in late February. While Warner Bros. and Paramount Skydance have not yet merged, the deal is expected to close within six to 18 months.
Per Variety, as of Sunday morning, The Bride! is projected to close out its opening weekend with a 3-day total of just $13.6 million at the global box office. This total comprises $7.3 million from domestic theaters (where it is debuting at No. 3 behind Scream 7 and Pixar’s Hoppers) and an additional $6.3 million from international markets.
Because the movie reportedly cost $90 million to produce and an additional $50 million to advertise, this disappointing debut means that The Bride! is expected to lose tens of millions of dollars, if not more. Because exhibitors keep half of ticket sales, the movie’s estimated theatrical break-even point could be as high as $280 million, which is a total that is more than 20 times its expected global debut.
More to come…
