Created by Rixus724 over on Nexus Mods, the mod aims to bring Nuevo Paraiso (otherwise known as Mexico) to Red Dead Redemption 2, as you may remember it from John Marston’s adventures in Red Dead Redemption.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s Ambitious Unofficial Mexico Expansion Is Back
Currently available to download in a work-in-progress state, Red Dead Redemption 2: Forgotten Frontier offers “new areas to explore, adapted mechanics, and a completely recreated world” with players able to “return to Mexico and rediscover how [sic] the state was like in the year 1907.” Although fans were enjoying the WIP mod, development for Forgotten Frontier was paused back in November, but now, its mod team is happy to reveal that the project has got their full attention once more.
Offering “more energy, focus, and ambition than ever”, there have been a few changes, including: reworks to textures across all towns and peds, “almost all the towns and his models have been redesigned from scratch”, and Mexico will no longer be just a stage, but “a living country.”
We’re working to ensure the mod not only looks good, but also feels real. We want to reflect the oppression, despair, and social tension experienced by many Mexicans during that year. Not as mere decoration, but as environmental storytelling, so the players will understand why the Revolution began, and how that conflict gives meaning to the events of Red Dead Redemption 1.
Keep An Eye On This Red Dead Redemption 2 Mod
Not only that, but Red Dead Redemption 2: Nuevo Paraiso will also welcome some brand-new features such as journal entries to document your journey, treasure hunts, minigames, functional shops, collector missions, bounty hunters, small side quests, and more. However, perhaps most excitedly, is the news that Sadie Adler will be our main protagonist in Red Dead Redemption 2: Forgotten Frontier. In the mod’s canon, Sadie travels through Mexico before heading to South America and “Sadie allows us to create a coherent, realistic story that respects the canon,” according to the development team.
With development back in full form, we can expect to see the final product for Red Dead Redemption 2: Nuevo Paraiso very soon, and with Sadie Adler at the helm, we can expect hours of fun-filled chaos in the heart of Mexico.
