GTA 5 Trevor Actor Responds To His Unexpected GTA Online Appearance

Grand Theft Auto 5 and its online counterpart still loom large in the game industry, but not everyone involved in making the game has stayed in the loop to equal degrees. Ned Luke, the actor behind Michael de Santa, regularly streams the game and remains involved in the community, while Trevor Philips actor Steven Ogg has been largely content to move on. As a recent interaction revealed, Ogg wasn’t even aware of his own appearance in GTA Online.

The GTA 6 Countdown X account shared a clip of Ogg learning of Trevor’s presence in GTA Online from Luke, a fact that apparently comes as a total surprise to him. In the clip, Ogg asks if any of the GTA 5 characters appear in GTA Online, to which Luke responds, “You’re in it, dumbass.” After Ogg asks how that even works, Luke explains that the material came from a session that Ogg attended “right after the game came out.”

A Total Surprise

Trevor in a GTA Online Heist

Ogg’s total lack of awareness regarding his GTA Online presence might seem surprising, but it tracks with his history regarding GTA. While he previously suggested that “it would be fun if Trevor appeared in [GTA 6] just to be killed at the beginning” in a Screen Rant interview, he’s also established his frustrations with being heavily associated with Trevor’s character despite having a broader range as an actor. In the clip, he also pokes at Rockstar’s continued profit from his appearance in GTA Online, sarcastically asking, “They’re not making money, though, right?

Trevor’s involvement in GTA Online is proportionally smaller than his central role in GTA 5, but it’s still nothing to sneeze at. The character is involved in some heist planning and action that takes place before the events of the single-player game, detaching his narrative presence from the way that GTA 5‘s ending could complicate things.

Will Trevor Ever Return In GTA Online?

It’s Not Impossible

It doesn’t sound like Steven Ogg has been in any recent talks with Rockstar about GTA Online, but that doesn’t mean he could never return. Still, it seems less likely than Luke’s recent appearance in the Safehouse in the Hills update. Ogg might be open to working with Rockstar again, as suggested by his GTA 6 proposal, but he’s never exactly seemed to be champing at the bit.

With the upcoming release of GTA 6, Rockstar might also start to pivot to a new online experience that ties in more directly with the newest game. If fans are still hoping to see Grand Theft Auto 5 icon Trevor again in GTA Online, they might need to pray that it happens soon.
