But what about Nintendo Switch 2? Based on the headway third parties have made with the Switch 2 this time around, the GTA 6 community is currently breaking down a recent leak from Kiwi Talkz on X, which says it’s coming this year.
Could GTA 6 Really Come To Nintendo Switch 2?
Is It That Powerful?
According to the leak, a source with a “decent track record” says that GTA 6 will release on Nintendo Switch 2 this year. It could join the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions, and since GTA 6 hits on November 19, it would have a month and achange to release to hit that 2026 target.
While Rockstar hasn’t formally announced it, it’s possible we could see a future Switch 2 announcement as the studio attempts to drum up hype for the game in the summer. It could also arrive a month or so later, technically launching before the end of 2026.
GTA 6 Fans Aren’t Exactly Convinced
Maybe It’ll Happen One Day
GTA 6 fans, however, are highly skeptical that this will come to fruition this year, or even in the years to come. Rockstar has painstakingly crafted the GTA 6 visuals shown off so far with different consoles in mind.
As one user points out, it’s possible that Rockstar did test the game on Switch 2, but could simply decide not to release it: “Developers test games on multiple platforms all the time and most of them don’t even end up releasing on the platforms that they were tested on and if they do they end up releasing years later (e.g. Gears of War 3 was tested on PS3 in 2011; still hasn’t released on PlayStation).”
Many fans are outright taking this leak with a grain of salt: “I love the Switch 2 but I highly doubt GTA VI will be on the console…. Maybe a remaster of GTA IV or GTA V but not GTA VI.”
Others are lightly skeptical, but still dubious: “Rockstar skipping PC at launch just to hit Switch 2 would be a legendary curveball. If it’s not a cloud version, that hardware must be an absolute beast.”
Other fans are more hopeful: “I’d love for it to be true and it could explain the delays in its release. The Switch 2’s unprecedented success last summer could have influenced Rockstar’s decision in November 2025 to push the release back to November 2026. Who knows? Let’s see what magic they can work.”
If it does somehow play out, Grand Theft Auto 6 should be on as many platforms as Rockstar can muster. Ideally, they can work out a PC release sooner rather than later, though.
