What we do know is that all the series’ staples will be returning, from committing more crimes than should be possible for an individual human, to weird and wonderful weapons, vehicles and characters to uncover and explore throughout the single-player and multiplayer experience.
That said, one of the absolute hallmarks of GTA up to this point has been the highly stylized loading screens that show some of the main cast, but they could easily be a thing of the past, and it’s all thanks to the relentless march of technological progress.
GTA 6’s Load Times Could Mark The End Of An Era
Over on Reddit, one user asked the community whether they believed that the series’ loading screens could be minimally impactful this time around, given just how fast the SSDs are in consoles in 2026. The obvious caveat to that is that GTA VI is set to be an enormous game, and the comments were divided on what exactly might happen when the game drops in November.
“GTA VI will be MONSTROUS, it will definitely find a way to eat up those resources, no matter how more powerful the next gen is. THE TRADITION LIVES ON!!!” one comment read.
“It takes more than 10 seconds to load V on my PS5, and it has art. They also made some new art with Chop in the PS5 edition for the loading. Definitely won’t end the tradition,” another added.
Another put forward the idea that Rockstar could add in a delay manually, so players get to look at that sweet art, saying, “It has nothing to do with the speed of the console’s processing power, but keeping the tradition of loading screens alive. You can programmatically add that delay to show loading screens.”
Grand Theft Auto Loading Screens Are Iconic
The fact is that GTA, as a series, has the most iconic loading screens that you’ll find anywhere. Despite the last game releasing well over a decade ago, it’s still a huge thing that people remember, and crucially look forward to. Hopefully, GTA VI finds a reasonable way to include them, even with the advanced storage tech that players have right now.
