GTA 6 Official Release Date Update Is Sending Gamers Wild

The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI sometimes feels never ending, especially considering it has been well over a decade since the last installment, Grand Theft Auto V, was released, and GTA VI itself has already faced two delays. However, if plans stay on track, then the next entry in the beloved Rockstar Games franchise is expected to drop this November, and one fan over on r/GTA6 recently pointed out a very exciting fact about the long-awaited launch day.

This GTA 6 Release Date Update Is Not An April Fool’s Day Prank

As today is 1 April, it is worth posting a disclaimer here that this is not an April Fool’s Day prank, but is instead a cold, hard fact about the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. That is because, as pointed out over on Reddit, today marks the start of Rockstar Games’ fiscal year, and this is the first time since it was announced that Grand Theft Auto VI is a part of it.

Put simply, a fiscal year is a 12-month period used by businesses when it comes to accounting and budgeting. It is a time which is used to determine how profitable the previous year has been, whilst also planning the docket for the upcoming year. Previously, Grand Theft Auto VI had always been delayed just before hitting Rockstar’s fiscal year, but today marks the first time when the two align without any news of a third delay.

Although this does not speed up that highly anticipated 19 November launch date, it is reassuring to use this information as a big milestone is the development of Grand Theft Auto VI. In clearer terms, this is the closest we have ever got to the launch date without any dreaded announcements, and it is unlikely that Rockstar will announce another delay now it is entered its fiscal year. We hope, anyway.

GTA 6 Is Officially Closer Than Ever

Set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 November 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI has cemented itself as the most anticipated video game release of all time. First set to launch in Fall 2025, before being pushed back to May 2026, and finally to November 2026, it has been a long run, but we are now officially the closest to its release than we have ever been with just under eight months to go. Now all we can do is hope for no further delays, and that Grand Theft Auto VI will live up to the hype that has been building for well over a decade. No pressure, Rockstar.
