Proof of ABC’s confidence in the project is its recent renewal for High Potential season 3, although its return this fall will not include original showrunner, Todd Harthan, who departs the series to focus on Disney+’s Eragon. Still, considering the strong foundation that the series has, it has a good chance of maintaining its place as a ratings-winner in the next cycle. Clearly, whatever High Potential is doing works for its audience.
High Potential Season 2 Pairs Up Daphne & Morgan For The First Time
As the titular character, Morgan drives the story for High Potential, and a big part of that is her partnership with Adam Karadec. Leaning into the ever-popular will-they/won’t-they dynamic, there’s hope that, ultimately, their professional relationship eventually turns romantic, especially considering the last few episodes of the show.
So it’s quite surprising to see High Potential season 2, episode 14, “If You Come For The Queen,” changing up the pairings over at Major Crimes, with Morgan tagging along Daphne Forrester instead. In an unusual development, Selina Soto awards Daphne her first case as lead detective even though the victim, Dottie Reynolds, has a close personal relationship with her. While Karadec and Lev Ozdil work a different case across town, Morgan and Daphne spend the majority of the episode together.
In fact, Olson’s character doesn’t get any one-on-one time with Karadec, as the only chance they get to spend is when they are all together. It’s an unexpected change, especially at a point where High Potential has been hinting at a romantic turn in their relationship, but it’s also so refreshing to see Morgan and Daphne together. Not only are they both great at their jobs, they also have great chemistry.
High Potential Season 2’s Female-Focused Episode Is Perfect For Women’s Month
While the change may seem like it came out of left field, the timing of it is perfect. High Potential season 2 pairing up Morgan and Daphne in an episode that coincides with Women’s History Month, which is an annual celebration throughout March is the perfect tribute to the procedural’s female talents and viewers. Specifically, Women’s Day is on March 8, with “If You Come For The Queen” rolling out at the closest Tuesday air date for High Potential to it.
Disney’s Lord Of The Rings Fantasy Series Replacement Is Changing Network TV In A Bizarre Way
As Disney’s new fantasy series that could start a franchise enters active development, it unexpectedly changes the state of network TV moving forward.
High Potential has always highlighted the achievements, joys, struggles, and ultimately, the resilience and strength of women. Morgan balancing being a good single mother and a great addition to Major Crimes has always had the limelight, but since then, the show has also shone a light on Soto’s arc, especially when she was passed up on a promotion that was rightfully hers. Similar themes are echoed in Daphne’s story in High Potential season 2, episode 11, including her heartwarming connection with Ava.
