The third-person action RPG is often considered a potential Mass Effect replacement for all of its similarities, but is based on the famed setting of the novels written by James S.A. Corey (a pen name for writing duo Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck). The Expanse gained widespread attention for its television series adaptation of the same name, and even received a tie-in game from Telltale. Osiris Reborn is shaping up to be the franchise’s most ambitious game yet, and the beta will let you give it a test drive.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Closed Beta Has Paid Access
Gaining access to The Expanse: Osiris Reborn‘s beta is quite simple: all you have to do is purchase the Miller’s Pack or Collector’s Edition from the game’s website, found here. Unfortunately, these are the two most expensive versions of the game. Miller’s Pack is $79.99, and the Collector’s Edition is $289. Below is a quick breakdown of what each of these purchases entail.

The close beta begins April 22, 2026, and is available on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. According to a press release, the beta includes a full mission from early in the game, showcasing The Expanse: Osiris Reborn‘s “combat, movement in the zero-g environment, and dealing with life and death on a remote space station.“
You Can Play The Beta Until The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Releases Spring 2027
The high price tag for beta access may be a deterrent, but once the beta goes live, access to it will not be revoked. If you purchase the Miller’s Pack or Collector’s Edition versions of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, you’ll be able to play the closed beta mission from April 22 until the game’s full launch in Spring 2027. An exact release date hasn’t been announced, but this release window was revealed in Xbox’s March 2026 Partner Preview.
For those turned away by the high price of entry to the closed beta, it may be comforting to know that the standard edition of the game is a more reasonable price. Osiris Reborn is on sale for $49.99, which is slightly cheaper than many new triple-A games. This may be an indication of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn being more constrained than other major RPGs, but given Owlcat’s track record, it will have no less depth.
