How To Locate Pokémon In Pokopia

As you progress in Pokémon Pokopia, there are a lot of pocket monster friends living in the various worlds, and they don’t tend to stay in one place. Each of these areas are fairly large, and when your Pokémon wander off, it can become a bit frustrating trying to find them. Whether you need Timburr to help build a new house or are looking for Metang to make paper, sometimes the hardest part is finding where they went.

While I was working on my review of Pokémon Pokopia, I frequently came across this issue at the most inconvenient times. Usually, this was when it was incredibly late at night, and I just wanted to get them working on a building before I logged off. But other times, I just needed a resource that required a Pokémon to make for me, such as lumber or bricks, and the qualified villagers seemed to vanish into thin air.

The Map Doesn’t Show Much Either

In a way, it is really a wonderful feature of Pokopia that the Pokémon who live in each area have the autonomy to do what they like and wander around on their own. Sometimes I truly could not find them at all, which led me to discovering that Pokopia accounted for this fact and built in two ways to quickly locate missing monsters.

Although there is a map for you to reference, it doesn’t really show you where Pokémon are located. But that’s okay, because the other methods are actually much easier and quicker than trying to follow the map would have been anyway.

How To Search For And Locate Pokémon In Pokopia

Option 1: Try Using The Pokédex Search Function

If you want to track down a Pokémon yourself, the handy-dandy Pokédex is at your service. Open up your Pokédex and take a look at the list of Pokémon you have. Click on the friend you are trying to find, and you will notice an option to Search for them on the bottom of the window. Selecting this will then give you the adorable animation of your character holding up the Pokédex while they walk around.

With the Pokédex in hand, you can walk up to any nearby Pokémon, and they will ask if you are looking for someone. Sometimes they will point you in the direction that they believe that your target is in, and other times they may even lead you to them.

Unfortunately, the only real drawback with using this method to find Pokémon is that sometimes they really aren’t around. Even other Pokémon will point out that they don’t know where the one you’re looking for is, suggesting that they may have left entirely for the time being. This is likely why my running around the world aimlessly did little to help me track down Metang when I needed him. Thankfully, option 2 solves this little dilemma.

Option 2: Use Honey To Lure Them Back

The second option requires you to have some honey in your inventory, but if you’re anything like me, then you probably already have considerable amounts due to clicking on every glowing flower you pass. You also need to know where that Pokémon lives, which could be a slight problem as you begin moving your friends around to different houses and might forget who got moved where.

Once you are at the missing Pokémon’s habitat or house, open your inventory and take out the honey. Using the honey on the habitat will summon the Pokémon to appear from wherever they were, even if they may have been in some alternate dimension where they were missing entirely from the location.

They will have some dialog above their heads, such as Vespiquen commenting on the lovely aroma, and then they will stand there before you. Now you can ask them to do whatever task you had in mind, or simply hang out with your bestie as they presumably are eating honey out of a jar like Winnie the Pooh. This wonderful workaround is a quick and easy method to finding lost Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia.
