The bundle site digiphile is currently offering free Steam keys for Planet Coaster. For those who want a more complete experience, a Premium Upgrade featuring 7 DLC packs is also available for 10 dollars. An account is required to check out on digiphile, but no payment or subscription is necessary. The offer will be available until March 18.
Planet Coaster Is Free To Keep Right Now
The Best RollerCoaster Tycoon Successor
The RollerCoaster Tycoon series is arguably the face of the tycoon genre, and Planet Coaster is often considered its truest modern successor. While it lacks the penchant for wackiness better displayed in competitors like Park Beyond, the level of simulation detail and polish provided by Planet Coaster is hard to compete with. It fares even better against modern games in the actual RollerCoaster Tycoon, which have generally received mixed to negative reviews.
Planet Coaster has been around for a decade at this point, but it still retails for $44.99 on Steam, making the digiphile offer all the more attractive. The $10 DLC bundle is also more compelling than paying $100+ on Steam to complete the set or subscribing to the $4.99 monthly access option.
Digiphile Steam Bundles Are Shaping Up Nicely
Planet Coaster Is Just The Start
Digiphile might not have a long-established name, but it’s a legitimate alternative to reputable sites like Humble. The bundle site was created by former Humble Bundle employees, and it’s successfully delivered some compelling bundle packages already. A digiphile Immersive Sim collection from earlier this year was one of my favorite bundles in recent memory, rounding up hits like System Shock, Shadows of Doubt, and Fallen Aces.
Aside from the Planet Coaster offer, digiphile is currently focusing on the throwback “boomer shooter” genre, which builds on the fast-paced action formula of games like DOOM. The Boomer Shooter Blueprint collection includes genre icons like I Am Your Beast, Mullet Madjack, and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, while the Boomer Shooter Indie Spotlight bundle spotlights comparatively niche titles like Killbug.
The Planet Coaster collection is the first digiphile offering to start at $0, which is certainly an exciting development. Hopefully, it will be the sign of more totally free promotions to come, but that might just be wishful thinking. For now, a free Steam copy of Planet Coaster is a deal that’s hard to ignore.
