That easily makes 2018’s Aquaman one of DC’s biggest movies. Now, Momoa has left Arthur Curry behind, set to play Lobo, the comic book character he has always loved, as a key part of the cast of DC’s Supergirl movie. After seeing snippets of Momoa’s Lobo in Supergirl footage, we now have a good look at the anti-hero and his role in the upcoming DC movie.
DC’s New Supergirl Trailer Reveals Lobo’s Role
After an exciting teaser, DC has now revealed the first Supergirl full trailer, and it is a blast. The footage dives deeper into the story of the Supergirl movie, showcasing Krypto’s dire state and how Milly Alcock’s Supergirl needs to go after Krem of the Yellow Hills. The trailer also spotlighted the film’s gorgeous sci-fi visuals and confirmed Lobo’s role in the story.
After Supergirl‘s first teaser insinuated that Lobo might be one of the bounty hunters against the hero, the DC movie’s full trailer has flipped that notion around. In the footage, it is clear that Momoa’s Lobo will be teaming up with Alcock’s Supergirl and Eve Ridley’s Ruthye throughout the 2026 DC movie. Lobo and Supergirl can even be seen fighting villains together.
Jason Momoa’s Lobo Completely Changes Supergirl’s Comics Story
Before we ever saw any actual footage from the DC movie, Lobo’s role in Supergirl was already a major topic of conversation. Not only is he a fan-favorite character from DC Comics, but Lobo also does not appear in the comic series that inspired the movie. While other bounty hunters showed up in Tom King’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the Main Man was not one of them.
Now, Lobo will appear in Supergirl and also seemingly play a big role in the story, as he assists the Girl of Steel in the new Supergirl trailer. In the comics, Supergirl took down several enemies with ease. As they miscalculated her strength, the heroine mopped the floor with bounty hunters left and right. With Lobo by her side, Alcock’s Supergirl should be nearly unbeatable.
After all, Lobo is a vicious fighter, has a potent healing factor, and possesses formidable strength. The need to have Jason Momoa’s Lobo play such a big role in Supergirl might be explained by Krem of the Yellow Hills’ power-up. Instead of looking like a typical fantasy movie villain, Krem has gone full sci-fi evil leader in the film, so Supergirl might need Lobo to take him down.
