The Australia-set movie featured Courtney as a serial killer who preys on young women; his modus operandi is winning their trust, imprisoning them on his boat, feeding them to sharks and taping the horrific ritual as a memento. The movie featured another Yellowstone universe alum, Hassie Harrison, as the “final girl” who must rely on her wits to escape from the killer’s clutches. Directed by Sean Byrne, who previously made the critically acclaimed horror films The Devil’s Candy and The Loved Ones — he’s working on a 100% hit-rate — the movie grossed just under $10 million at the box office.

Jai Courtney Earned Unanimous Praise for His Performance
We’re talking about Dangerous Animals, the gory love-child of Steven Spielberg‘s Jaws and Jonathan Demme‘s The Silence of the Lambs. The movie holds a “Certified Fresh” 87% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics’ consensus reads, “Stuffed to the gills with memorable shocks and a thrillingly unhinged heel turn by Jai Courtney, Dangerous Animals will be irresistible chum for horror aficionados.” In his review, Collider’s Nate Richard praised Courtney’s performance and wrote, “Make no mistake, there’s no better time to watch a shark movie than the summer, and Dangerous Animals is far better than big-budget fare like Meg 2 or the schlocky mockbusters like Sharknado.” According to FlixPatrol, Dangerous Animals debuted as one of the most-watched movies on the domestic Hulu chart this week, when the leaderboard was topped by the time-travel film Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice.
