“For the progress of Tamil Nadu, we need a new kind of governance—Politics 2.0… As we approach the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, we must ensure that people are not misled by divisive politics or false promises,” MNM founder and chief Kamal Haasan, said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Thus, MNM has decided to not directly contest the 2026 State Assembly Polls but to provide unconditional support to the DMK alliance,” he added, calling the move as one that comes out of a “duty” and not a “sacrifice.”
“Politics is not about creating divisions; it is about building unity,” he said.
MNM’s move comes at a time as the DMK has been busy stitching up the alliance for the upcoming April 23 Polls.
Meanwhile, late Tuesday evening, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), led by Premallatha Vijayakant, was allocated 10 seats in the DMK-led alliance.
