The Amazon Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and Kindle Scribe with Front Light will finally be available outside of the United States. Starting April 8th, 2026 both of these latest generation devices will be available in Germany and the United Kingdom. This is good news for people who just want to buy them directly from Amazon, rather than from 3rd-party markets.
The Kindle ScribeColorsoft has a full trick up its sleeve: a better, more color-accurate display. They have licensed the Sharp Oxide display panels. This technology was developed in conjunction with E Ink. The use of Sharp’s IGZO backplane technology enables higher frame rates and finer control over pigment placement, resulting in more vibrant colors and faster transitions. This is the first color Kindle to employ this technology.
Key Features
- A new front light system with miniaturized LEDs that fit tightly against the display to create a narrower bezel and uniform lighting.
- A new texture-molded glass to improve the friction when the pen glides across the screen—unlike tablets that often feel slippery or glassy.
- A rearchitected display stack to shrink the parallax to virtually nothing, so it feels like writing directly on the page.
- A new quad-core chip, more memory, and our latest Oxide display technology to make everything feel snappier.
Wrap UP
The Kindle Scribe and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft have long been waiting for its first foray outside of the United States. Germany and the UK has been confirmed for a couple of months now and there is no indication on where it will be available next, likely Amazon is focusing on countries with wealthy and affluent customers, along with enough warehouses and delivery drivers to get the e-notebooks out faster. If you live outside the US, UK and Germany and still want to get your hands on a Kindle Scribe or Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, you can order them from the Good e-Reader Store.
