Kobo app now has better personalized recommendations

Rakuten Kobo is updating its Android and iOS apps to prioritize personalized e-book recommendations. Isn’t it amazing when you walk into a bookstore, and it feels like they know you and your reading tastes and are putting great books in front of you right away? That is what the e-reading company is going for

After you complete the sign-up quiz that tells us what kinds of books you’re interested in, we’ll have recommended books ready for you instantly—right on your home screen. If you haven’t taken the quiz, check it out here.

It remains to be seen whether you only need to take the quiz once, and whether the home screen will be populated with e-book data and keep refreshing every couple of days or weeks. There also does not appear to be any options on the home screen to tell Kobo that you are not interested in a specific book or genre.
