Legend Of Zelda Movie Ganondorf Casting Leaves Gamers Torn

We haven’t seen too much of the upcoming Legend of Zelda live-action movie adaptation thus far, but what we have been able to look at does make it seem as though we’re in for something quite exciting.

Currently slated for a release on May 7, 2027, and produced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures, we do already know who’s going to be playing the film’s protagonists, with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth appearing as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda.

Outside of that, details are pretty thin on the ground, and we don’t really know where the film is planning to take the narrative or which other iconic characters from the franchise are set to feature. The antagonist is also a bit of a mystery, but if the series’ big bad does make a return, then fans have some great ideas about who should play him.

Who Will Play Ganon In The Zelda Movie?

Over on Reddit, one player took to the forums to ask the community who they think should be given the role of Ganondorf. Whilst this could obviously depend on what version of the character they go with, there were plenty of interesting potential ideas for who it could be.

“My money is on Idris Elba. He looks the part, given the fact that Ganondorf is described as a male Gerudo and he would have a deep enough voice to especially sound intimidating when he transitions to the monstrosity known as Ganon,” one comment read.

“My top 3 choices would be… 3 — Javier Bardem. He has crushed every villain role he has played. Could easily look the part of TP and/or WW. 2 — Numan Acar. Looks the part more than anyone else I’ve seen. Has ties to producer Avi Arad. 1 — Jason Clarke. He’s been my dark horse for a while. I think he’s got the look for TP Ganondorf. Great actor but lesser known than Bardem. Has ties to the Planet of the Apes movies,” another added.

“Since Ganondorf is Gerudo and Gerudo are influenced by Middle Eastern/Southern Asian culture, I would very much like an actor who is from these cultures,” a third said.

Will Ganon Even Be In The Zelda Movie?

Given that the live action adaptation has a ton of wiggle room to bring their own approach to the iconic franchise, it’s not a guarantee that they will actually use Ganon as the film’s antagonist, particularly if they are planning sequels where he could be introduced later.

That said, it’s a fairly safe bet that Ganondorf’s appearance in The Legend of Zelda movie will happen, as including the character would draw in more of the nostalgic crowd.
