Despite having a fairly divisive ending, Lost is still remembered as one of the best things that happened to television in the early 2000s. The series eventually paved the way for several other fascinating mystery-box sci-fi shows that often left viewers with more questions than answered and forced them to theorize week after week.
One such show is currently doing the same with each new installment while etching its own identity in the horror sci-fi genre. It will soon return with its fourth season and potentially resolve many underlying mysteries. Considering how every season of the show in question has been better than the last, it is hard not to believe that even its next installment will be the best one so far.
From Season 4 Will Seemingly Be The MGM+ Show’s Darkest & Best Season Yet
As From season 3’s ending established, the first three installments of the show were all about establishing the rules of the central town and its terrors. With season 4, the show will finally start playing in the offensive, where its main characters will aggressively start seeking answers and fighting back against FromVille’s evil forces.
Even From season 4’s trailer hints that the characters will delve deeper into the town’s forbidden mysteries, while Boyd will notice that he is starting to change in ways he had never previously imagined. Seeking this forbidden knowledge will also come at a terrible cost, where the characters might find themselves falling deeper into the trap set by the monsters and the Man in Yellow.
Put simply, instead of merely being about survival, From season 4 will focus on the characters’ proactive season for answers, which will significantly raise the overarching stakes.
In season 3’s finale, From dropped several major bombshells that paved the way for exciting developments in season 2. For instance, it hinted that Tabitha and Jade may be reincarnations of Miranda and Christopher, suggesting that the town is a cycle. To be able to escape, they will have to find a way to break this loop.
It has also been established that the monsters, too, were once human residents of the town before they sacrificed children to achieve eternal life. This not only makes them scarier but also hints at what the Man in Yellow wants the current human residents to become.
Speaking of the Man in Yellow, it is hard not to wonder whether he is the leading evil force in the town or savior in disguise. Season 4 will likely provide more answers. Tabitha’s hinted time-travel twist also adds another layer of intrigue to the show’s already dense mythology and potentially makes it more high-concept in the upcoming season.
With so many fascinating developments lying ahead, From season 4 has the potential to become the series’ best installment to date. Hopefully, like its predecessors, it will not disappoint and finally start resolving all the underlying mysteries the show has introduced since season 1.
Unlike Lost, From Will Likely End On A Satisfying Note
Since From shares executive producers (Jack Bender and Jeff Pinkner) and its lead star (Harold Perrineau) with Lost, it has always been compared with the iconic ABC show. While Lost was arguably better than From in several ways, From seems to have a better shot at delivering a far better ending.
In its six-season runtime, Lost ended up setting so many story threads and mysteries that it was eventually consumed by its own puzzle-box approach. Many argued that its ending felt underwhelming because it struggled to answer many questions that viewers were seeking.
Viewers have raised similar concerns about From‘s future because the show is no less ambitious with its mysteries. Fortunately, though, From has maintained a tighter narrative scope and has already started setting up several major answers.
From season 4 premieres on MGM+ on April 19, 2025.
While it has not been confirmed when From will eventually end its run, season 4 is certainly not its final installment. Despite this, the show is setting it up as the perfect inception of the endgame, where many of its long-running mysteries could finally start making sense.
This makes it hard not to believe that, unlike Lost, From will eventually end on a high note and get a far less divisive reception in its final installment. Hopefully, this will turn out to be true and From will be remembered as another compelling addition to the horror genre instead of a failed mystery-box experiment.
