Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday released a clarification video following widespread speculation over a chat between owner Sanjiv Goenka, captain Rishabh Pant, and coach Justin Langer after their loss to Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026. “Not everything you see is the true story. Here’s the unfiltered post-match vibes, when cameras don’t cut,” LSG posted on X. Earlier, videos had emerged on social media showing Goenka having a conversation with Pant on the field. Pant appeared quite animated, and even coach Langer got involved. Social media users were quick to draw comparisons with the infamous interaction between Goenka and then captain KL Rahul following LSG’s loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024.

In the video posted by LSG, Goenka and Pant can be seen sharing a laugh during the same meeting whose earlier clip had gone viral.

The following is the video that went viral after the LSG vs DC match.

However, several internet users questioned the authenticity of the second ‘clarification clip’ uploaded by LSG, suggesting it may not have been recorded at the same time as the viral video, as no fans could be spotted in the background. Several fans called the clarification video ‘scripted’, pointing out differences between the first and the second video.

While what was exactly spoken between Goenka and Pant remains unclear, former England captain Michael Vaughan commented: “One game into the tournament… no need for this.”

Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, who left India in 2010 amid allegations related to tax evasion, money laundering, and proxy ownership linked to the IPL, made a controversial remark while responding to Vaughan’s post.

“I told you this guy @DrSanjivGoenka, owner of @LucknowIPL, is a complete loser and joker of the highest order. I am seriously embarrassed by his behaviour. I created the @IPL for fans and players alike, not for this to happen every time, every year. If I were still chairman and commissioner, I would have banned him immediately and made him forfeit his ownership of the team forever. He is a complete pompous clown. There is a clause in the franchise agreement for this exact issue. #BCCI implement it-keep integrity above all. Sucking up to the powers that be is not the way to allow him to get away. Fans and players alike will remember,” Lalit Modi wrote on X.
