After Lucknow Super Giants’ loss against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday, skipper Rishabh Pant and head coach Justin Langer were seen having an animated discussion with team owner Sanjiv Goenka. In the match at the Ekana Stadium, LSG were all out for just 141. In reply, Sameer Rizvi slammed an unbeaten 70 as DC registered a comfortable win with more than two overs to spare. Following the loss, videos emerged on social media showing Goenka having a chat with Pant on the field. Pant looked quite animated, and even coach Langer got involved. Social media users were quick to point out the infamous interaction between Goenka and KL Rahul following LSG’s loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024.

LSG has now released a video showing Goenka and Pant sharing a laugh during the same meeting whose clip had gone viral. “Not everything you see is the true story. Here’s the unfiltered post-match vibes, when cameras don’t cut,” the post read.

After the loss, Sanjiv Goenka wrote on X: “This is a long season, and moments like these are part of building something meaningful. I have full confidence in our captain and the team to respond with strength. To our fans, thank you for your support at Ekana today. We will come back stronger. The story of @LucknowIPL this season is far from written.”

LSG skipper Rishabh Pant said the decision regarding him opening the batting in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) is uncertain, describing it as a “50-50 call,” but confirmed that he will definitely feature in the top order. Pant’s move to open the innings did not go as planned, as LSG suffered a defeat against Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2026 opener on Wednesday. Pant scored 7 off 9 balls and was run out at the non-striker’s end.

“I think it’s a 50-50 call, but we’ll see. You’ll definitely see me in the top order,” Pant said after the match.

The decision to promote Pant to the opening slot pushed Aiden Markram down to No. 3. This came despite Markram forming one of the most effective opening partnerships last season alongside Marsh, with the duo registering the second-highest partnership runs of the campaign. Markram also enjoyed his best IPL season, scoring 445 runs at an impressive strike rate of 148.82.

The move also saw LSG’s big hitter Nicholas Pooran pushed down the order from the No. 3 position, from where he slammed 524 runs at a strike rate of 196.25 last season.
