After 60 Long Years, the Quantum Realm Has a Sorcerer Supreme
But is Turin the Quantumancer Friend or Foe?
Marvel recently released solicitations for its June-shipping titles, including Sorcerer Supreme #7. Written by Steve Orlando and drawn by Francesco Mortarino, the book introduces Turin the Quantumancer, described in the solicitations as the “Sorcerer Supreme of the Quantum Realm.” Wanda meets Turin while fighting the Extinction King, but his motivations are unknown.
In addition to information about the issue, Marvel also released a handful of cover images for Sorcerer Supreme #7. The first, by Creees Lee, shows Wanda and Turin charging into battle. Elizabeth Torque also provides a trippy, psychedelic look at Turin, while Bernard Chang checks in with a “Design Variant” of the new Sorcerer Supreme.
The Quantum Realm Has a Long History at Marvel Comics
The Micronauts, Ant-Man and the Wasp Defined the Quantum Realm
Turin’s debut marks the first time the Quantum Realm has had a Sorcerer Supreme. The Realm, a mysterious dimension outside of space and time, can only be accessed by shrinking to levels beyond subatomic. While the term “Quantum Realm” gained notoriety thanks to the MCU, its roots go back much further.
Marvel had published stories of adventures in microscopic realms since the Golden Age, but characters such as Ant-Man and the Wasp helped popularize this type of story in the genre. Then, in the 1970s, Marvel licensed the rights to make Micronauts comics, which formally introduced the term “Microverse” to the publisher’s vocabulary.

Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme is making a big splash in 2026 ahead of Avengers: Doomsday.
Unfortunately, Marvel lost the Micronauts license in the mid-1980s, forcing the publisher to change the name of the Microverse to the “Quantum Realm.” This name for the region is still in use today, thanks in part to the MCU. Now, the Quantum Realm is getting its own magical champion at long last.
Its First Sorcerer Supreme Takes the Quantum Realm to Another Level
Turin Will Fight Threats Like Dormammu and Nightmare
Most of the stories Marvel has set in the Microverse/Quantum Realm have been science fiction-oriented. The Micronauts fell into this genre, as have most of Ant-Man and the Wasp’s adventures. Introducing a magic-based hero to the Quantum Realm shakes up the status quo, introducing exciting new layers to its lore.
The types of magical threats that could be lurking in the Quantum Realm will no doubt be some of Marvel’s most terrifying. Turin will have his work cut out for him to keep the Realm safe from extradimensional interlopers such as Dormammu, or more home-grown threats such as the Extinction King.
The Quantum Realm is Poised to Be Big in Marvel Lore Once Again
What Will Doctor Strange or Clea Think of Turin?
The Quantum Realm is vast and full of terrors and wonders. It has been fertile ground for Marvel to tell great stories. The Micronauts is fondly remembered by fans today, and recently returned to print. And thanks to the three MCU Ant-Man films, the Quantum Realm has achieved mainstream recognition.

And now, it will finally have a new, and permanent, Sorcerer Supreme. While a great deal about Turin remains under wraps, he nevertheless cuts an imposing and intriguing appearance. If Turn is evil, then Wanda will be in for the fight of her life. Even if he is good, the balance of power in the Marvel Universe has changed.
